Once in a while something happens in fashion that illustrates the fact that the right product at the right time can really be a pot of gold for any brand regardless of how long they have been around. Five-year-old  J. Brand produced  the cool pants, did the right p.r. push and provided. The J. Brand Houlihan Lois (proud owner of two pairs as we speak) featured a while back has been on a journey to stardom.  The NY times devotes a whole page the the slim cargo penomenon. Here’s a tidbit of the seriousness:

“Since the end of January, its manufacturer, J Brand, has sold more than 75,000 pairs of the style and has 40,000 pairs on back order. “In 33 years I’ve never shipped anything like this,” Jeff Rudes, the founder and chief executive of J Brand, said this week, noting that some customers have offered to prepay for the $230 style. Bloomingdale’s has sold thousands, according to Mr. Doroff, who wants more. Barneys New York has 1,000 pairs of Houlihans on reorder, with waiting lists at its stores. The Intermix chain said it has sold 2,000 pairs.”

Here we present 22-year-old accessory designer Delfina Delettrez’s latest collection, called “My World,” as photographed by Dan Tobin Smith (who shot Jay-Z’s most recent album cover).  According to Nowness, accessory design is in Delettrez’s blood. Her father is jeweler Bertrand Delettrez and her mom is Fendi’s accessories director Silvia Venturini Fendi.  Her latest collection was inspired by the Mayan calendar, which highlights 2012 as a year of rebirth for the world.

Attorney turned designer  Rosena Sammi created her signature collection in 2006 following a longtime appreciation for vintage jewelry handed down from generations of women in her family. The jewelry  collection reflects her Sri Lankan Tamil background as well as her New York City woman flair. Didn’t mean for this site to become a chronicle of all things Lara Stone marriage related, but it’s like nibbling at the pie in the fridge, we can’t seem to stop ourselves! We posted an image of what we thought was the wedding dress yesterday, but that was actually the post-nuptials outfit. On this page is the real thing. So she did go traditional and white. Oh well, at least she avoided the strapless profile, a look so ubiquitous at weddings these day you’d think it was a required uniform. Like the gold dress, this one, too, is Givenchy by Ricardo Tisci.

Dior presented its oh-so-impecably cruise 2011 collection in Shanghai, everyone’s favorite new locale (oh the lure of China’s burgeoning middle class) this past Saturday. In conjunction with presentation of the cruise line, Dior celebrated the re-opening of the Plaza 66 boutique and also debuted “Lady Blue,” a film written and directed by David Lynch and starring Marion Cotillard.
