Rihanna Interview Series

21 April 2010, 18.20 | Posted in Music, celebrity | 1 comment »

Here’s Rihanna, who is currently touring in Europe, in the first installment of a 12-part interview, hosted by Nokia. I’m not gonna lie, in this interview she talks about the music from her current cd and it’s kind of boring. “It’s more personal…..blah, blah, blah.” Like we haven’t heard that a million times before from every artist on the planet. Still, at some point she’ll probably hit fashion as a topic and that one might be a bit more intriguing.

P.S. Dear Nokia: That stupid “Now Playing” graphic in the upper-left corner (that even obscures Rihanna’s face!) is horrible and annoying.

PUMA Clever Little Bag

CLEVER LITTLE BAG_lo

In the spirit of ecofriendliness and sustainability, PUMA has partnered with world-renowned designer Yves Béhar to create a new packaging system that truly rethinks the way shoes are sold. Béhar has designed a “Clever Little Bag,” replacing the cardboard shoebox with a re-usable shoe bag that eliminates the need for extra plastic carrier bags.

As a result of the 65% paper reduction through the “Clever Little Bag” concept, PUMA will reduce water, energy and diesel consumption on the manufacturing level by more than 60% per year. In other words: approximately 8,500 tons less paper will be consumed, 20 million Megajoules of electricity saved, 1 million litres less of fuel oil used and 1 million litres of water saved.  Fashion with a conscience. Gotta love that! On a next page a look at the apparel packaging reduction.

Marble Effect Nail Tutorial

21 April 2010, 14.41 | Posted in nail art | 4 comments »

U.K.-based nail artist (and student) Flyndia has a YouTube channel featuring a series of absolutely charming and enchanting videos, which teach various nail art effects. The one featured here was recently uploaded and tutors on creating a marble look. Even if you wouldn’t attempt nail art on your own if your life depended on it, you can’t help but enjoy watching her do her thing. And I couldn’t agree more with her profile quote: “Life is way too short for boring nails so have fun and embrace nail art! ”

Lady Gaga in Tokyo

LadyGTokyoFront Lady Gaga in Tokyo

Miss Gaga is peforming these days in Tokyo, a tour sponsored by Mac Viva Glam. I have the feeling that folks there are just ga-ga over her. I am sure I am basing this on stupid stereotypes I hold attributable to nothing more than an interaction here and there, but I have this sense that her love of pageantry might be more compelling to her Japanese fanbase. And btw, have you all seen how Grace Jones slammed GaGa for being a cheap imitation? All I gotta say is, was that really necessary? A little grace, Ms. Jones.

Many more WireImages after the jump.

w41 Sharon Wauchob Spring/Summer 2010

In web world a few days is already old news. Although Sharon Wauchob showed her Spring 2010  collection in Paris this past October, and the web buzz for Spring is long gone.  I had to take the time to feature her collection as I think  it was among some of the best, but was not  publicized majorly. Nicole Phelps of Style even writes: Sharon Wauchob is one of those designers who flies under the radar of most big editors but who gets plenty of respect from top retailers. “You get a lot of value for your money, and it looks special without being complicated,” said Sarah Rutson of Lane Crawford, the chic Beijing and Hong Kong emporium.  On the next page enjoy a look at the stunning looks some available at Anastasia boutique .Imgs via style.

A-MORIR ‘Bootsy’ Eyewear

bootsy white1 A MORIR Bootsy Eyewear

Usually  even on my most  ”fashion daring moments’ I probably would not pull off  the super adorned “blinged-out’  sunglasses that we’ve featured here and there. Somehow, A-Morir’s  Bootsy glasses , named after the legendary Bootsy Collins  seem  somewhat accessible. Totally rockable on one  of those days of extra fabulousness. Even if it’s just over the head as an impromtu headband. More colors on the flip. Available here.
