Individual style is something we love in these parts. Personally I admire the discipline it takes devellop it . I call it discipline because on my end I think I have a like a style attention deficit disorder, with plethora of style references striving to find their place in my fashion repertoire: a flower child, world traveler, a rocker, a middle aged avant-garde artiste( think Zoran or Yamamoto clad), a wannabe charlie angel , a grown up sexy hybrid of Sharon Stone and Diana Ross and let’s not forget ostentatious over the top disco and sequins to name a few .Therefore women like Kate Lanphear’s whose style discipline is always consistently flawless make me pause in admiration. MOB designer Leah McSweeney has never been known to take the safe route; try as she might it just isn’t in her and thank god for that. When last we met she had mentioned her next campaign would feature an adult film star. And when she told me, I was thinking, okay…well, that’s going to be interesting and damn, does this woman have a scared bone in her body? But then when you watch this clip of Faye Reage and see how utterly captivating she is (the freckles!!), the move yet again seems a pure genious one by McSweeney & Co. From what I can tell, a full movie is to follow, directed by Shawn Regruto and produced by Leah McSweeney. Now that I would pay to see!
Miu Miu’s summer 2010 ad campaign images are out, shot by Mert Alas & Marcus Piggot. Miucca has never been one to follow trends; she’s always done her own thing and sometimes her lines are a smash hit because they happen to be in sync with the moment and sometimes they stay more quietly in the background, but her presentation is always impecable and her point of view is always visionary.
Love it or hate it some movies not only have the ability to illustrate trends they even create new ones.With the upcoming release of SATC 2 and their trip to Abu Dhabi I wonder if the destination will now see flocks of fashionistas?
