Lately we’ve been snapping and posting images from storefronts that catch our eye as we make our travels around New York. On our way back from the Levi’s event, we were on the edge of the Garment District when we spotted the store featured here. This one, called Rock Fashion, is located on 36th Street, and appears to be open to the general public. (There are a bunch in this neighborhood that have storefronts, but you need a tax i.d. to shop in them. In other words, they are only for buyers purchasing in bulk.) What I like best about this store is how the bright and feminine dance dresses are positioned above a bunch of men’s boots! I mean really, what in the world was the thinking there? Buy yourself a freakum dress and while you’re at it, pick your guy up a pair of shoes??

My affinity for menswear always leads me to love  sleek women’s lace up shoes. Bringing more edge than a ballerina flat, this is a come back trend that I totally welcome. Of course Christian Louboutin’s version is flawless in metallic blue via net-a-porter .

Levi’s held a big press preview in New York yesterday for its fall 2010 line. The event included live models (poor girls, they had to stand on their displays with much higher heels than the guys!), a band and a photo exhibition. Most important of all, natch, was the denim. And it looked great. Lately there’s been a little tug of war going on at Levi’s between trendy versus classic treatments and details and this collection struck the right balance between the two so there’s a little something for everyone.

We made our first visit last week to G-Star’s U.S. headquarters in the heart of SoHo. The Amsterdam-based brand is still growing in the United States, but being there and seeing the collections all in one place gave me a feeling of how huge it is worlwide (6,300 points of sale in 65 countries). The brand has been focused on raising the profile of its women’s line and part of that effort includes bringing on board Liv Tyler in March as its first official celebrity spokesperson for G-Star Raw for women, the company’s premium sportswear line. Here you’re seeing photographs of her first line, which is mostly denim, but also some tops. I gotta say, you don’t get more perfect than the skirt featured on this page.

After Magic we showed ultra-exclusive previews of the Tokidoki X Sephora collaboration.  Back then we didn’t have many more details than what was included in the product line. But now we have an official date:  Thursday, April 22nd! Sephora describes the collection as “criminally cute beauty.” Start hording your pennies, ladies!

UPDATE: The line is actually already available for sale at Sephora. April 22nd is the press event, where will be snapping tons of images.
