lamb zane

Somewhere between last summers constant downpours  and the amazing boot season we’ve been having I realized that my casual  sandal game has gotten weak. In the spirit of revamping it , one of my first picks is LAMB’s Zane in a  modernist black and white. A pair you just cannot go wrong with. Available at djpremium. Detailed view on the next page.

The Biggest Hair!

Hair1 The Biggest Hair!

Sad to say but my Jersey women have nothing on the participants featured for this hair-themed art project, which is a collaboration between CuldeSac and Studio Marisol, who put on a seminar each summer attended by renowned designers, architects and artists who live and work together with the participants for a length of six to ten days. Held at at Domaine de Boisbuchet in southwest France, this summer’s design theme will be human hair. According to Yatzer, “The main goal is to research, design and build a project by using cutting, shape, fixing, weaving, teasing, textures and colour. But…how could these treatments have influence on design products? This is one of the many questions that emerge in this unique workshop where hair’s properties (versatility, resistance, structure, aesthetics, colour and light) will be given to newly created objects of design.” Personally I’m a little baffled, but in any case, the hair is quite wonderful.

VWMelWhite Viv West X Melissa Winged Sandals

Given Malcolm McClaren’s recent passing, there’s something fitting about these recently-launched winged sandals designed by Malcolm’s old pal Vivienne Westwood, in collaboration with Melissa. Perhaps Malcolm flew to heaven in these. Available at Patricia Field.

Martha Stewart X Proenza Schouler Tie Dye

09 April 2010, 23.10 | Posted in Designer Collaboration, Media, celebrity | No comments »

Proenza Schouler designers Jack McCullough and Lazaro Hernandez don’t even attempt to conceal their glee while learning all about simulation tie dye at the feet of home icon Martha Stewart. Listen for the segment’s funniest exhange when Martha says, “Well they went to Parson’s! I only spoke at Parson’s!”

Gar-De Seaweed Ribbon Wrap Skirt

Half of me thinks that oak  made a typo in calling this Gar-de  piece a skirt when it really looks more like a pair of slanted hem harem-y shorts. Then again  in fashion name calling you never know?  The shape is interesting but definitely not the easiest thing to wear. This is one  that can look fab or just be a big fashion mistake. Definitely no middle ground. More views on the next page.
