As a fashion observer  one my biggest peeves  is often the lack of globality in fashion. The fact that editors tend to only focus on what is immediately around them and that the public also seems to lack this curiousity. Thankfully the snobettes have an eye for the world at large. Check out the crowds who attended the Burberry3D viewing  in Paris, France, New York , Japan and the winners of fabulosity: Dubai.  They make everyone look  so  shabby! We posted yesterday about Karmaloop’s No. 1 category, dresses, and promised we would follow-up with its second-most-popular category today. And the winner for hot category No. 2 is……leggings! The top selling leggings style (shown from left to right above) for Karmaloop is Tripp NYC’s “Indigo Acid Wash” denim leggings. (It’s a look that’s not getting a lot of love from editorial, but I know from speaking to people in retail that they are hot everywhere, not just K-loop.) After Tripp, comes Married to the Mob’s “Crayon Logo” leggings, and then Kill City’s “Oh La La” leggings. Tomorrow, the third most-popular category on Karmaloop for women. I think it’seasy to guess what it is, but then again I know what it is.

I first spotted Raphel Young ’s  footwear in  Manish Arora’s A/W  2009 collection. The young designer has since  establisehed himself as a serious contender for our  footwear affection.  Cork wedge, chain detail , patent leather. Fierce. A closer look on the next page. Available at seven.

Check this action-packed and adorable shoot (photographed by Mikael Jansson) featuring Alex Wang for the March issue of Interview magazine. I like how he’s caught up in all this action that’s a little bit beyond his control. Similar to how he’s part of the new up-and-coming generation of designers who are, in some, cases, pushing the old guarde to the side.

Fashion lovers are starting to stock up on spring items so we checked in with our buddies at Karmaloop and asked them to tell us what their right-now, three hottest categories are. Dresses are at the top of the list so that’s where’s we’re going to start. The three styles you see on this page are currently the hottest sellers on the site. From left to right: Blaque Label’s “Ramona,” Motel’s “Pamela Chain“ and for a dash of flowers to lighten the mood, Jack BB Dakota’s “Jonica.” Stayed tuned for hot categories No. 2 and 3. Rihanna is in Europe and recently popped up in Berlin, where she did some press, including signing autographs for fans. In the image on this page, she puts the iron to her curly locks, which, along with the liner makes her eyes really pop. As for the fashion, not sure of the label, but it features crystal-encrusted and studded shoulders. Denimology is guessing it’s a custom piece by Rihanna’s stylist, Mariel Haenn. On the other side, a close-up her Louboutins, some fierce shades, plus images of Rihanna in transit with her bodygaurd  who is once again carrying her Louis Vuitton Sprouse bag, which she is rarely seen without when on the go. She anchors her travel outfit with a pair of black Nike hightops. And that’s why we love her.

Alexander Wang’s spring collection goes on sale today on his website at 4 pm, eastern standard time I presume, according to Elle magazine, who guesses the leopard wedges, featured above, will basically evaporate. We concur! However, this news is only a big deal for those who missed the already launched collection on ShopBop(how’d you let that happen, Alex??), where the famous “it” wedge, priced at $650, is now only available in size 35, 36 and 37.

With a definite inclination for artisanal embellishment Namrata Joshipuara ’s spring/summer 2010 collection features a wide variety of silhouettes in clothing that  is fun  and  elegant . The jumpsuit in the center is just flawlesss.  On the next page a closer look at  more looks.
