Creative Director Stefano Pilati has invited LCD Soundsystem to perform live at his Fall/Winter 2010-2011 women’s show on Monday evening, March 8, 2010 at 8pm local time at the Grand Palais in Paris. LCD Soundsystem – the musical project of James Murphy, producer and co-founder of dance-punk label DFA Records – will perform a musical piece specifically composed for the revelation of Pilati’s collection. London-based-fine artist and designer, INSA, was one of six artists asked by Tate Britain gallery to create a response to a recent exhibit by artist Chris Ofili (New Yorker may remember him from his paintings, “The Holy Virgin Mary,” which used elephant dung as a material and which then mayor Rudy Guiliani tried to have banned from a Brooklyn Museum exhibit). INSA responded with the 10-inch (!!) elephant-dung heels featured here. According to the press release, “INSA retraced the footsteps Chris Ofili made over 15 years ago and sourced dung from the same family of elephants that produced the dung used in Chris’s infamous paintings of the nineties.” Wow, talk about a crazy journey and an amazing tribute!

Designed by Gerald Holtom in 1958, what  is commonly called “The peace sign”was originally a symbol  designed for the British nuclear disarmament movement. Later on in the 60’s it was used as a protest against war until it became a highly recognizable symbol in pop culture. Malini Ramani’s recently  presented her collection during Lakme Fashion Week .Illustrating  the use of colors and sexy silhouettes that have been her trademark. Mara Hoffman  has always has a special place in my heart as one of the few designers whose collection never seem to reflect a particular trend. I’m sure that on closer look one might find a print or a silhouette “of the moment” but for the most part this woman does her own thing and always does it well .
