Ungaro x Lindsay Lohan : No More

DivaUngaro 380x540 Ungaro x Lindsay Lohan : No More

Vintage Ungaro via Aging Disco Diva.com

The collaboration that had the fashion world all twisted up and bothered has ended. Vogue France reports that starlet Lindsay Lohan is no longer “artistic counselor”  of the Iconic label. When it comes to fashion  this choice  really bothered me, no offense to the  young actrice but  let’s face it when there is  world filled with women who live and breathe fashion in all walks of life , I still really wonder why? Was it about being on the cover of a tabloid every week ? This decision was not necessary when   Ungaro is one of the quintessentially chic  sophisticated, classy  high end labels created around the same the  same time as YSL.  My 2 cents:  Just ask LVMH to but you off  and let’s end  the madness.

Chanel Ready to Wear Fall 2010: Plushie Luv!!

Chanel Ready to Wear Fall 2010: Plushie Luv!!

It’s funny because today earlier I was posting about a three-year-old Married to the Mob video and how MOB designer Leah McSweeney was an early appreciator of the wonders of plushies. I wonder if when Karl did this collection he was aware of the whole stuffed animal sex fetish thing. I’m thinking he had to be. I have to say when you stumble upon the world of plushophiles, it is really fascinating and inspiring. Just read the following quotes from a well-known Vanity Fair article on furry fandom and see if it doesn’t make you smile: “We’re a group of people who like things having to do with animals and cartoons,” a man in a tiger suit tells a woman. “We’re furries.” Maybe after a year of more b.s. than he could imagine, Karl was looking to feel a little happy. Bless his creative heart if that is the case.

Spotted on the Floor: Shoe Candids

TradeLAMB Spotted on the Floor: Shoe Candids

When attending the trade shows, I always intend to take candids of the fashionable folks strolling the floors, but you’d be surprised if you haven’t been to the shows because it’s not always easy to find photo-worthy walkers! For a lot of attendees, it’s a work event and they’re wearing comfy (read: b-o-r-i-n-g) footwear. The one exception was New York’s Coterie. That crowd was much more dressed up, but then again the labels that show there are higher end and the crowd is older. Alas, I forgot my camera that day. The image above was worn by a LAMB rep at the Project show in Vegas. After the flip some candids of Chloe boots, Jeffrey Campbell wedges and and a couple of other cute styles spotted at Magic (also held in Vegas), Project and Compass (in New York).

Asics Onitsuko Tiger: Fall 2010

AsicsOTPuff Asics Onitsuko Tiger: Fall 2010

In our visit to the Asics showroom last week, we got to preview fall 2010. The Tokidoki collabo wasn’t available to be shown yet (apparently there were some delays in putting it together aand it will launch for holiday), but we liked what we saw from the Onitsuko Tiger and Asics lifestyle collection. This page features an OT puffy boot, which will go on sale in July or so. After the flip, there are a ton more trainers, using some very slick fabrications and colors (I liked the grey, Samia perferred the purple.)

Married to the Mob Spring 2: ‘Grammercy Gardens’!!

MOB5 Married to the Mob Spring 2: Grammercy Gardens!!

Married to the Mob’s Spring 2 campaign features our favorite smoking hot, boss-lady-in-charge, Leah McSweeney herself, not to mention her always shy and demure lil’ sister, Sweet Sixteen. Love the line and the panties! The collection is called ‘Grammercy Gardens’ and was shot in Manhattan’s Grammercy Hotel. The MTTM woman is still scandalous as ever, but now that she’s lived and learned a little, she’s also figured out the advantages of being a tad refined when called for. The collection includes tees  (one inspired by Daphne Guinness), plus mini dresses, rompers and ruffled tops and a twill jacket.

And since I was taking a trip down YouTube memory lane in an earlier post today, I want to share with you one of my very favorite M.O.B. promo videos of al times. It’s from 2006 and features the brand’s first swimsuit line. Even then, Leah was setting trends, using a gorilla as a video extra (”Oh you want that banana!”), which if you take a look around at music videos and commercials these days, has become extremely common place.

More shots of the line after the jump.

Michelle O. & Jason Wu Smithsonian Bound!

MichelleJasonUSAToday Michelle O. & Jason Wu Smithsonian Bound!

Michelle Obama with designer Jason Wu unveiled her inaugral dress at the Smithsonian today. She said some pretty sweet things about the day and the dress:

“I’ll never forget the moment that I slipped on this beautiful gown.  I remember how just luscious I felt as the president and I were announced onto the stage for the first of many dances.  And I’ll cherish that moment for the rest of my life.  And now that the crowds are gone, and the Mall is silent, and our family has settled into our new home, the White house, this gown is one of the most tangible things I have left to remember that day.  And that’s why it will always hold a special place in my heart….”

And check out Jason’s expression in the image (from USA Today). He’s looking very happily nostalgic himself, like, ahh yes, THAT dress. The one that changed my life fo’evah! One of my favorite moments from that day was when Beyonce sang the entirely appropriate Etta James classic “At Last” at their first inaugral dance. Check it out and relive for a moment those ecstatic, first happy days when it all seemed like a dream.
