Greeted by   handsome Burberry Trench -clad  men holding branded umbrellas we were ushered into a dimly lit room where our 3-D shades were presented  to us on trays along with appetizers and mimosas. All the classiness and sleek presentation had us forget it was just 10:30 in the morning.

Some highlights of the pre- show for us were of course the intro by  designer Christopher Bailey,  pre- show interviews of Anna Wintour ,  Burberry CEO since 2006 , Angela Ahrendts ( yay a woman!)  and Kate Hudson who impressed us with her candid appreciation of trench coats  . The collection was one that truly had us weak in the knees as a seemless expression of  quality and style with just enough edge to make it  sexy, city appropriate and not boring at all. The fall 2010 in New York seems to mark a slight departure from  the extreme footwear of past seasons. However  the platform is still present and designer Ruthie Davis presented a spiked-heel bootie that we could not ignore. We were delighted to attend the official launch of the  unisex capsule collection of Levis Cords by  Opening Ceremony a few weeks ago. As usual the  ilttle shinding  drew a fun crowd surrounded by the custom corduroy furniture designed for the event. On the next page a closer look at the shinding and the partyers. Cotton totes aint nothing new, but I love how Es N Yaa update the look with Ghanian fabrics, which, according to co-designer Esther, have limited production runs. In other words, once the fabric is exhausted, that’s it, nada mas! So the chances of spotting another woman sporting a bag just like yours (which, you know I love LV all day, but how many LV Speedy bags did you spot today?) is very, very small.

At Magic there’s a section of the show called “Cash & Carry,” where vendors can set up shop and sell their products. That’s where I spied Tawapa’s alluring earring and necklace offerings. The company started out with a focus on men’s piercing accessories, but lately has been branching out into women’s. I loved these earrings and necklaces because they speak to the current feather trend, but the bone, fossilized ivory and horn materials make them more bad-ass than hippie-ass. And the detail on them is amazing.

After being stopped in my track by Dulce’s au courant leopard-print clogs, I sat down with Dulce’s namesake designer Dulce DeHaven and had a very long chat about the world of Brazilian shoes. I’ve always known Brazil was a hotspot for shoe manufacturing, but didn’t realize it’s become the main spot for bridge designers like Tory Burch, LAMB, among many others. Dulce herself started out in bags, and recently added footwear. I loved not only the design of these clogs, but the quality was as amazing as it appears in these images…and believe it or not, the shoes retail for under $200. I’m not lying!
