Any serious fashion observer in NYC cannot ignore that J.Crew has been gaining serious ground as a brand and as a retailer with the success of their smaller men’s stores and of Madewell. The women’s J.crew line however  although fueled by The First Lady’s flawless style  has not fully gained the same momentum as the other divisions.

 The line has been rediscovered by  the women who wore high end classy fashion, became alot more fun and playful contrasting high and low, dressy and casual but still a little too pricey  in our opinion . If this collabo with  Dana Loren’s Fenton -Fallon is a sign of what is to come, looks like  J.Crew women’s “hot” factor could be on its way . Don’t sleep on Jenna Lyons! Another necklace on the flip. Speaking of sports, it’s February and for Sports Illustrated fans, that means the famous swimsuit issue will soon be hitting stands. Over the past week, S.I. has been leaking out videos and stills, with the lucky cover model to be revealed on Dave Letterman’s show on Feb. 8th. This year, the shoot was stylized to be ’70s and ’80s inspired and “happy and sunny and more subtle” and less “full-on sexy,” according to one of the video narratives. The images, the girls and the suits are always stunningly beautiful, but it does seem that this year’s shoot could be just as at home in Elle as S.I. And take note world! Two of the models, Jessica White (after the flip) and Damaris Lewis (above right), are Brooklyn natives, and there’s a third whose first name is Brooklyn!

Whatever advantage the Colts may have with Mr. Confidence, aka Peyton Manning, the Saints have it all over them in the sentimental favorite column. After all, who wouldn’t rejoice to witness the down-but-not-out people of New Orleans experience the shot of pure joy that would come with a Super Bowl victory? And then there’s the added bonus of post-game, face time for boyishly adorable Reggie Smith. As such, Go Saints!

The need for that one piece with serious drama factor always arises. Especially when its cold and you really do not want to fuss with lots of pieces .You want that one piece that  expresses your love “de la mode”  but does not try too hard. We highlighted Rihanna’s manicure for the Grammy Awards last week, and just now I stumbled across a close-up shot. As you can see for yourself they are simply amazing. I can’t quite figure out what the art is, but it looks like some form of currency. It reminds me of a manicure I spotted on the cashier in a McDonald’s drive through a few years back. She had teeny-tiny, shredded-up dollar bills lacquared on to her tips. I almost feinted! I’m telling you, shopping may cheer a girl up, but nothing lifts a heart like glancing down at a freshly polished set of nails.
