Alex McQueen Funeral

26 February 2010, 21.24 | Posted in Uncategorized | No comments »

Alex McQueen FuneralAlexander McQueen’s funeral was held yesterday at Saint Paul’s Church in London. It was a private funeral, attended only by family and close friends, which included Naomi, Kate Moss, and Stella McCartney. According to the Daily News, “Members of the family wore McQueen tartan, which the designer draped across much of his 2006 ”Highland Rape” fashion show.” Very sad day for those who loved him.

 Sam Edelman Newport Boots

For a couple of years now winter in NYC can considered somewhat mild compared to our neighbors in canuck land allowing most of us, myself included to get by without proper winter boots. Galoshes work fine but if style is an issue you don’t always want  to rock a rubber boot. Thankfully I came across The Newport by Sam Edelman. Over the knee, crepe sole and lines with faux furfrom the ankle all the way up. The only drawback is that folded down they don’t look as cool. They’re not for rugged snow trekking but you can survive  a couple of snow/slush falls in style. Available at zappos. More images on the flip.

Lucky ‘Koko’ Wedge Sandals

PiperLimeLuckyKoko Lucky Koko Wedge Sandals

For everyday shoes, Lucky Brand is a company worth looking at. This past winter, the company had several equestrian-inspired boots, all at a pricepoint considerably cheaper than the surprisingly pricey Frye. We spotted these Lucky Brand ”Koko” wedges in Lucky magazine, priced at a very affordable $99. Love the tribal print, plus the thick straps and the manageable heel height. They scream summer 2010.
