Paristexas gives us a sneak peek at Chrissie Morris Spring/Summer 2010 footwear, the ‘Enola” Style .Loving the muted color pallette and the stingray contrast!
I can count on one hand the number of wedged- heel shoes or sandals I have seen in the past seasons that made me pause in lust and admiration !Christian Louboutin is dominating the lux shoe game lately and his commercial success we can agree, goes beyond the hype experienced by a Jimmy Choo or a Manolo. Not that the latter are not fierce , but Louboutin’s trademark red sole is branding that speaks on its own. The Macarena Wedge Sandals. Via browns. A closer look on the next page.
Trompe L’oeil apparel is very hit or miss in my book. For the most part the attempts are usually either kitschy or mediocre. I know I sound a bit harsh but I’ve seen some really poorly done pieces… Rosalind Keep’s Collection is getting me to reconsider and actually admire the skill . A closer look at more pieces on the next page.Via cyana.
The concept of the pop up store is alive and well , and big brands have been able to capitalize on non fashion events like Art Basel to entice shoppers. Fendi’s customizable embroidered bag the Baguette Mezzo Punto is a perfect example of the ability an established brand has to do something new . As much as the marker edition was a let down , this version of customization actually works.Launching this spring the bag will be available this week at limited edition experiences during Art Basel…Image via wwd & luxuo. Lindsey Hufnagel designs her Horse+Nail handbag collection with an emphasis on quality, design and craftmanship, her Spring/Summer 2010 Handbag Collection flawlessly blends a country cowboy aesthetic with a rock edge. The hardware on those handbags has me totally fiending. A closer look at Horse + Nail on the next page. Some styles via shopbop.
I know it’s just a grass-is-always-greener point of view, but I feel like when it comes to fun and fashion combined, Japan is where it’s at. Case in point, the recentently-held 2009 Nail Expo, held in Tokyo, which featured a nail art contest and attracted over 50,000 visitors. Of all the images floating around the web from the event, the ones featured here were my faves. The obligatory Hello Kitty designs is featured after the flip.
Cyana recently featured the designs of recent graduate Stine Ladefoged who in the tradition of Sandra Backlund takes knitwear to an amazing level of creativity and design. A loser look at Stine Ladefoged on the next page.Cannot wait to see more from this newcomer!
Spring 2010 footwear seems to mark a definite departure from the hard , edgy aesthetic of the past seasons into something lighter and definitely more playful like clogs and espadrilles. In essence the resurgence of these silhouettes could even be a new interpretation of the heritage-y trend that is slowly making its way into the women’s market . Pura Lopez’s interpretation of these styles is of course flawless in that the silhouettes are sleek , never bulky and of course expertly crafted in her native Spain. Check out my faves from Pura Lopez Spring/Summer 2010 footwear.
