Aviator Nation, a label built around Paige Mycoskie’s love of the ocean and vintage tees makes apparel that exemplifies this free spirited ocean  loving surfer lifestyle. Reminiscent of  California & Hawaii the appeal of this line is really the very lived-in comfy  look and feel of the clothing. Yes it has a tendency to be very LA celeb style trendy , but a piece or two won’t damage your edgy street cred.The sweatpants  totally got me…On the next page a few of my fave looks from Aviator Nation Spring/Summer 2010.

Italian brand Missoni has always been a favorite, especially in recent years again. Who would have thought that their knitted patterns look this cute on plush toys? They have released bears, rabbits and more, both in the form of larger plush toys and as key chains. Now available at colette.

If there is anything we love about fashion it’s the sense of wonder  and the constant creativity  some designers constantly provide. Going beyond wearability and crossing into art , concept and design were these McQueen shoes from Spring 2010 . Needless to say Daphne Guinness will probably  end up on some people’s worst dressed list , but in these parts we simply marvel at her risk taking.  Fashion should not always be about what is expected,  at the end of the day it’s just clothes . I’ve been a fan of Oki-Ni for quite a while, as they have  consistently been a source for great design and apparel that is not always easy to find. Although they have  focused more on men’s apparel  since they re-launched, I’ve always believed  that their offerings clearly could  cross over to women .The newly launched  Oki-Ni  style project does a good job of showcasing  the universal appeal of many of the pieces . Whenever a new trend heats up, there’s always a point where you see it being taken to a level where you can’t help but think, was that really necessary?? Case in point these Free People tattered socks (which will set you back 18 bucks). Don’t get me wrong, I love what FP is doing these days as purveyors of affordable fashion, and you know that they knew this item would be controversial. So while I appreciate their moxy on the one hand, on the other, I feel like, okay, you just killed it; the distressed trend is now officially in decline. And now what’s next? Tattered panties?? Featuring a studded waist??? (Though now that I think about it….that’d be kinda cool, at least in a conceptual kind of way!)

Vans rep Maria sent me images of these oxford shoes, aka the Sophie, and I was immediately smitten. I’ve been less-than-crazy about the menwear-inspired oxford trend, but the saddle shoe pattern combined with the wedge heel softens  the masculine edge of the design and transforms them into a shoe that’s ultra-charming and meets my girly-girl minimum requirements.

If you aren’t a fiend for white shoes like I am, there are a couple more solid-colored styles after the flip, including one featuring the famous Vans’ check. Looks for these to retail Spring 2010.

Delfina Delettrez  is definitely carving her name as a designer of  edgy jewellery and ideas that never go unnoticed. Most recently she created a “Finger Ring” where the nail color cold be changed as you please. Launching in December the finger ring comes with a nail polish, available in 5 colors.Via vf.
