Free People Tattered Socks: Too Far?
Whenever a new trend heats up, there’s always a point where you see it being taken to a level where you can’t help but think, was that really necessary?? Case in point these Free People tattered socks (which will set you back 18 bucks). Don’t get me wrong, I love what FP is doing these days as purveyors of affordable fashion, and you know that they knew this item would be controversial. So while I appreciate their moxy on the one hand, on the other, I feel like, okay, you just killed it; the distressed trend is now officially in decline. And now what’s next? Tattered panties?? Featuring a studded waist??? (Though now that I think about it….that’d be kinda cool, at least in a conceptual kind of way!)

I’m curious if the whole sock is tattered, or just the upper part. If the whole thing is, will my old socks now be trendy?
I have some leg warmers that have a little wear and tear and I still love them, but I wouldn’t pay for these.
They would be total overkill if everything else was tattered…but with clean shoes and tights/leggings/pants, it works!
It just looks sloppy. Sorry.
