My first memory of Only Hearts  by Helena Stuart was a brown spaghetti trap tank top circa late 90’s   that without exaggeration can be called ” the best tank top ever made”.  The straps were thin, adjustable and the fabric was stretchy cotton not too clingy or sheer and, sit easily mid hip with no constant tugging. I created ways  to wear it and layer it.  It was the kind of tank that you could really dress up or dress down. Needless to say  I was excited to hear that , Only Hearts, will launch its first-ever vintage pop up shop during the holidays. Aviator Nation Cut-off Cords

Leave it to the Jersey Girl to be more than a little clueless about California clothing culture. When I visited Dietch p.r.’s N.Y. showroom a week or so back, the rep introduced me to Aviator Nation, a brand I knew nothing about, but which I’m told has quite the following. Apparently it’s built a name via its distinctive color combos and trademark designs (like this summer’s lightening bolt), which have found a home in the hearts of beach-minded folks all the world over.

I swear, I have to get out more often. One of these days!

If we take the Spring 2010 shows as a forecast of what will be all the rage , its not premature to say that the, rock/studded  influence will fade. Nonetheless great shoes, regardless of trends are just great shoes. The illustrious Azzedine Alaïa footwear of course never disappoints in that category. I jus came accross a few looks from Marie Louise Vogt a Hamburg (Germany) based designer whose pieces evoque a sense of poetry and indivisualism. Just like Sandra Backlund, she takes knits to another dimension beyond every day wearability into art. Cannot wait to see more. Images via stylebubble.

Vans Luxe Collection: Aleeda

Vans is freshening up its Classics [REWIND!!! I'm told by excellent rep for Vans, Maria Boshetti, that these are  NOT Classics; they're part of the Luxe line, aka, the women's version of Vault, Van's premium line for men, which...I did not know that!] for ladies for Spring 2010 with a richly-colored mix made extra special via perforated leather. We like this one, called the Aleeda the best, but there are three more on the other side that are pretty darn cute, too!

Which trends from the Spring/Summer 2010 catwalks are you getting excited about?

Some spring/summer trends that I’m excited about are bold bright colors and big accessories…lots of flowy silks, satins, and chiffons. I especially love that jumpsuits are going to be big for spring.

Who or what influences your creativity when styling your clients?

My clients influence me a lot, and many times they have a good idea of what type of look they want to achieve. Runway shows and Old iconic movies definitely give me inspiration. Grace Jones is one of the top influencers of my work. More on the next page.
