While style and experience can only be refined by the passing of time and maturity , fashion continues to be obsessed not just with novelty but with youth. Teen models are chosen to wear apparel  that women will wear and  women’s magazines dedicated to the well travelled, affluent   and mature showcase starlets whose career has just begun. Fanny Karst  created The Old Ladies Rebellion doing the opposite, and showing some fashion love to the  generation of women who  carved the way for us. The old ladies! The great PRPS collaborates with Brix Smart Start’s  London Boutique Start on a collection of two piece limited edition styles – a pair of Japanese denim boyfriend and  and an Italian leather cropped biker jacket – are both adorned with oxidised studs and hearts and will be available in-store and online from early September.The return of  black classic leather for fall means that designers will provide great pieces, that will endure long after the trend fades, this will be a great season for leather .View the presentation here. Thanks to the dedicated folks at Rihanna photos we have  a look at the gorgeous editorial Rihanna did for Vogue Italia ’s September 2009 Couture Supplement shot by Stephen Klein.  Would have loved to see it done in color !  All the metallics of  the Givenchy  couture pieces  she wears are kind of lost.Via jj.Lots more on the next page.

As reported by Dazed: The fifth Yves Saint Laurent manifesto will be released on Saturday, September 12, 2009 where over half a million copies of the eco-consciously printed Manifesto will be distributed in the streets of Paris, New York, Milan, London, Tokyo, Hong Kong and, for the first time, Seoul. Like past seasons of manifesto distribution, the first 2,000 passerby in each city will receive the Manifesto in a custom cotton tote bag designed by Creative Director Stefano Pilati.(image above) . ‘Green’ clothing can no longer be “put in a box” as more designers are choosing to be conscious about their production and materials. Susan Woo based in NYC is one such designer who created her Autumn/Winter 2009 using exclusively organic and sustainable  fabrics and materials. The silhouettes are sharp, modern and sophisticated. There’s a   costumey quality to this dress that makes it  stand out as  very versatile  and playful. I could see it , popped up collar , over   pants with a thick belt or open over a slinky slip dress for a summer coat effect.
