As macho as Timberland is, over the years, it’s done its fair share of things for us ladies. Besides the fact that  plenty of us did our own version of machista cool in a pair of six-inch wheats, who could forget the winter of Timberland-inspired Manolo Blahniks, which first caught fire when they were spotted on the feet of BX fave, Jennifer Lopez? (and which Timbs eventually made their own version of.)

This collection, however, is a lil’ more refined and is clearly trying to take things next level for all us grown Timbs lovers. Known as the “Depression Era Chic” collection, it was inspired by the “post-industrial working woman.” The styles  featured here are known as “Marge,” inspired by fashionable females working hard for the money in cities worldwide. They launch in the fall and two of the stores where you can purchase them are Shoe Biz in SF and Soula in BK. Reminiscent of Kente Cloth , we’re loving the Osborn Design Studio Handblocked Jazzie. Handmade by independent fair-trade cooperative UPAVIM (La Esperanza, Guatemala City, GT). As I listened to the Run This town and heard Jay- Z mention  Maison Martin Margiela I could not help  but notice that this simple statement really reflects the major shifts we have seen in men’s fashion for the past two to three years. Where the look of the  well dressed man is more “pulled together” and finally looks the part next to the woman in her dress and heels. If music is again dictating  what the hottest thing will be in seasons to come will urban youth be rocking slim suits  and avan’t-garde trenches, and stop wearing their jeans around their knees, one can always dream…
