I am not going going to go through my list of all the reasons Michael Jackson rocked as a performer and fashion icon. But what I will say is that unlike some performers who get onstage and request awards, titles and recognition, Michael from what we know never publicly took credit  for his own talent , skill or individuality and is admired all over the world. Gwen Stefani in Elle Mag via Denimology

The idea of super bleached almost tie-dyed denim is one Lois and I have been raving about for a while. Nonetheless as cute as Gwen looks in Elle mag in her version by Current Elliott  we really wanted the quintessential icon of denim to , make it happen and turns out they did. As I love using the plethora of canvas bags I  have amassed over the years. When it rains you are pretty much done. The leather versions by Nathalie Shakur of Natthakur  are pretty  impressive  and fun as they can also  be used as full on handbags and imitate , paper bags and plastic bags. Pop culture and television has exposed alot about society,   values etc. Some good some bad, but for the most part when I think of Farraw Fawcett, her role in Charlie’s Angels comes to mind as one of the first images of women I saw  in the media  . Growing up in the islands, I remember my sister and I running to the television when the theme song for the show came on and being riveted to the screen as these images of stylish women who could kick butt, somehow shaped a little bit of our ideas of who we could be : The strenght , skill,  sense of justice, quirkiness with a healthy dose of sexy. The shows were of course re-runs , but  as little girls all we saw was the fierceness! On the next page the Farrah Fawcett poster that sold over 12 million copies worldwide.

If there was ever as superstar of design whose name crosses the lanes of design insiders to everyday folks who just like nice things, it would probably be Phillipe Starck. The designer teams up with the house of Ballantyne Est. 1921 to create a collection of 30 pieces for men and women. Using their patented ‘ wet-out cashmere’ (A special water-repellent finish prevents liquids from saturating the external layer of the knits)” Lighter garments are made with silk linings and for colder seasons, jackets and coats are equipped with ‘teddy-bear’ detachable waistcoats, whose pockets are deliberately camouflaged to maintain the purity of the silhouette. Yes studs have been done, maybe even overdone but , how cool and simple is this bag, by Tory Burch launching Autumn/Winter’ 09. I might have to own this one…Via style.

Created by the sister duo of Solveig and Åshild Elton Jacobsen, Elton & Jacobsen inspired their autumn/winter 2009 collection by the science fiction movie Stalker (1979) by Russian director Andrei Tarkovsky. Reflected in the  collection´s dark color palette and the texture of  fabrics. Panelled leggings and mini dresses, tailored trousers and classic suit jackets are key pieces. The puffed sleeved sweater above is one of my favorite pieces.
