Prashant Verma created a stir at his recent Autum/Winter’09 collection at Wills India Fashion Week . Inspired by courage and vitality  the collection had a tougher edge than most of the collections of the show : Cocktail dressses printed with flexing biceps, boxing championship  belts, gladiator-like shoulder pads and protective helmets, were some of the highlights.

 I really admire the sophistication he was able to bring to boxing gear, his use of graphics seldomly used in women’s apparel like smoke , fire and explosions, and his sleek interpretation of military uniform.

I have a serious weakness for jackets and sweaters with long panels that can be  draped and tossed as I please. Little did I know that the design was also made in leather by Horace, the label created by  Emma Hales and Adam Entwisle.  The black leather drape jacket , available at Oak.

Titled “Porcelena” El delgado Buil’s Spring/ Summer’09 Collection reflects the soft hues of porcelain with flower and spatter prints that manage to be soft and fresh  without being overly girly. Luv it!

To celebrate their 20th anniversary DKNY teams up with Levis on collection of limited edition  denim styles. A wide leg,  Skinny silhouettes and the ever so popular boyfriend cut.  The rationale behind this collaboration puzzles me when DKNY has a   DKNY Jeans  label. Is this  a way to make their denim line more “credible” in the  world of Levis aficionados and denim purists ? Or did a consumer study show that DKNY denim wearers also wear Levis?  At  $225 a pop I’m not sold on this concept. Are you?

Here’s a quick look at the Fall 09 collection by Jeremy Scott for Adidas, part of the Originals by Originals series. Hopefully the Mickey Mouse Hi-tops from Scott’s  fall 09 will be included , as this collection seems to have a more colorful pop-culture feel than the previous one.
