Yoyo Lip Gloss ….Never at a Loss for My Gloss

yoyo toutes Yoyo Lip Gloss ....Never at a Loss for My Gloss

As illustrated by Lil mama, lip gloss can be a vital tool in young girls journey into womanhood. To remediate to  the sense of loss girls can feel in loosing  their favorite lipgloss,  Angie Parlionas, a new york native created YoYo lip gloss in 2003.  A  lip gloss attached to a yoyo string that never leaves the hip or bag where it’s attached.

The retractable glosses come in 5 different colors/flavors  illustrated by 5 gals who have their own myspace pages:  A baseball player,  a stylish cool gal, a break dancer, cheerleader and my fave,  a deejay.

As an adult tough, it’s still possible to be peeved  about loosing your favorite designer lipstick or gloss at a club or a concert , you might wanna snatch a couple of these  next time you hit the drugstore or make your little sister always has a stash you can ” borrow” from.

Sneak Peek: Quicksilver Fall/Winter 2009

highsnobette-quicksilver f 09

Highsnobette was given a preview of what’s to come for Quicksilver’s women’s line for Fall/Winter 2009. I’m very excited about the re-vamping of Quicksilver and their focus on womenswear they are taking. A new blog is up with some amazing female bloggers and a new concept store has opened with an entire 800 square feet dedicated to all things girl. I’m most excited about the level of sophistication this new collection brings. It still has the carefree California beach girl appeal but by using fantastic materials and grown up silhouettes, Quicksilver manages to give it a maturity that makes it wearable during that pesky adult activity called work.  They showed some great outerwear pieces, accessories, and a lot of dresses. The standouts include a knee length button down denim dress and full length one piece jumpers in bold blue and raspberry red. The best part of the collection is that it’s 26% Eco-friendly and 3% of all sales go to an amazing charity the Ripple Project.

More after the jump.

rbkjellies Reebok Jellies

Trust, Reebok won’t be the last to jump on the jellies trend this summer. These are a great option for flat lovers. Only problem is, if you’re a Yank like me, I have no idea where you’re gonna find them ’cause while I first spotted them posted up by our friends at TrashBag (see more styles there), they originally were posted on Japanese site Mischief. And you know how it is, the product always seems cooler on the other side of the pond.

Steve Alan Platform Wedge

steven alan cork shoe 1 Steve Alan Platform Wedge

We saw the platform wedge return from the ashes a couple of years back with the rebirth of original ’70s platform, Kork-Ease. Since then the trend has slowly gained steamed, and with the decline of the dress denim/high heel trend and the rise of leggings, boyfriend jeans, jumpers and dresses, fashion now has bona-fides for bringing this profile back full force. These Steve Alan platforms are undeniably cute, but to be honest, I’m waiting for the derivative versions that modernize this look and catapult it into the 21st century. Jacobs, I’m looking at you!

goorin1 The Goorin Brothers Wendell Fedora

As it’s snowing outside,  I cannot help but think of outdoor summer concerts, cookouts , drag your feet lazy days where you just sit outside and people watch and, of course the perfect summer fedora to rock. In the city a straw fedora gives you just enough sun coverage.  And , looks more pulled together then a baseball  cap . The Goorin Brothers Wendell Fedora, available at Karmaloop.

Missoni Autumn/Winter 2009

missoni 11 Missoni Autumn/Winter 2009

One of the  positive effects of hard economic times might be that uncertainty  will allow  the big fashion houses and labels  with a long history to  focus on  refining their core competencies, and  provide highly covetable an wearable pieces, instead of venturing into unknown experimental territory.  That was the case for Missoni.  Designed by Angela Missoni,  Autumn/ Winter  2009  focused on the beauty of what Missoni is known for, intricately designed knits and patterns.

The hobo chic styling with multiple layers and hints of luxury with the addition of  gold jewelry, and gold heeled-stilettoes makes me all warm and fuzzy inside. Every single piece of this collection can be considered  a classic, timeless Missoni.

A closer look at  my faves from Missoni’s Autumn/Winter 2009 on the next page.
