santo1 Santigolds Big Money Jumpsuit

Santigold performing at Ultra Music Festival in Miami

This is the second image I’ve come across in less than a week’s time that Santigold has been photographed wearing a jumpsuit. She seems to like a baggier sort of fit, which bugs me a little. I could see this as an item to wear during a spring day hanging out in Brooklyn, but not as a performance piece.

There’s a full-body shot on the other. She’s wearing sneakers….guess what brand?

opi1 O.P.I.

Recently I was privileged enough to enjoy a complementary O.P.I. manicure. I chose one of their new spring shades, Done Out in Deco, or what I refer to as Easter egg purple. It’s the perfect pastel, just in time for spring, and looks nothing less than adorable on. Get your nails did y’all.

grdano s09 resort Introducing: Gr.Dano Spring/Summer 2009

Designed by Jill Giordano and Brian Scheyer, Gr.dano fuses fashion and graphic design with monochromatic collections that are modern and urban. I loved the curved hems and molded  fluid shapes, all  the pieces can be tossed in the washing machine, making great style very low maintenance.

A closer look at Gr.dano’s Spring Summer 2009 on the flip.

lv4 The Louis Vuitton Spicy Sandals

Our beloved Tommy Ton of  Jak&Jil featured the  hot shoe of the season, The Louis Vuittion  ”Spicy Sandals.” Great images as usual of a pair of sandals that really does add serious spice to really anything. Curious to see how other brands will be “inspired.”

More beauties on the next page courtesy of Jak&Jil. Word of caution , take a deep breath first. For pricing and details go to I  love LV.

agata2 Agata Ruiz de la Prada Fall 09 at Miami Fashion Week

Miami Fashion Week  came and went without a lot of mention in the fashion press. What’s that about? One of the most featured shows   in world news outlets  was Agata Ruiz de la Prada’s very humorous Fall ‘09 presentation. Funny or not, that  clutch has my name all over it!

Cross Colours at Karmaloop !

cross1 Cross Colours at Karmaloop !

I would love to say that I used to rock Cross Coulours back in the day, but I’m just not that cool. The label that brings the nostalgia of the late ’80s to early ’90s is back and Karmaloop is one of the first  web retailers to feature an extensive assortment. Forget the ’80’s it’s gonna be all about the ’90’s folks!

On the next page a few pieces of Cross Colours at Karmaloop.

Christina Aguilera Goes Hard

chrisfront Christina Aguilera Goes Hard

Chris Aguilera makes her entrance to Perez Hilton's b-day party in Los Angeles

Have always had a thing for Christina. Back in Chris’s early days when it was her versus Britney, I was always Team Aguilera. After she got married and had her baby, I appreciated her even more because she didn’t do what a lot of women do, which is go through that period of I-am-the-Virgin-Mary, boring sanctimonious stage (and yeah, Madge, I’m talking to you though you finally came around), as if being a bad-ass and a Mom are somehow mutually exclusive. Christina, bless her sagitarrian heart, always knew better–that if you embrace it, being a Mama has the potential to make you that much slicker of a human being.

One more shot of Christina in a pair of distressed denim jeans after the flip. I’d love to rip them off her body for myself but the truth is they probably wouldn’t even fit as arm warmers!

The Generic Man for Women

petit The Generic Man for Women

My love of fine footwear has always extended to men’s footwear,  as men shoemakers often achieve a level of quality and craftsmanship often sacrificed in the women’s  market due to the speed of changing trends and quick   knockoff fashion. For their women’s collection Called ‘Generic’ To my joy, Brandon Day and Kevin Carney ,designers of The Generic Man , did not compromise quality or style .

‘Generic’ is made in the same 100 year old factory in Portugal, as their men’s line where the soles are handmade by a craftman who has been making men’s leather soles for generations. Trademark Generic Man silhouettes were adapted to the womens’ foot , and feature the same sleek , modern/minimalist design as the men’s collection. I’ve always loved rocking  men’s style oxfords, they can  take the  menswear  look a to a higher level of cool, and can be a fun option to ballerinas . I would call it, collegiate- chic.

A closer look at  Generic  by The Generic Man on the next page.

Vice Fashion Issue

Vice Magazine

While all the mags are dying, and Refinery29 attempts to save the industry this weekend by reporting on the 5 magazines you need to buy, Vice just put out a plump spring fashion issue – that’s FREE, as always. Complete with global trend reports, an interview with Koos Van Den Akker (inventor of the Cosby Sweater!) a 27 page Ryan McGinley special, and a 90’s fashion shoot (because everyone except Elle knows that 90’s are the new 80’s). And those are just a few highlights, at an epic 236 pages, it’s their biggest issue yet.

Oh Snap ! Dora The Explorer gets a Makeover

doras makeover Oh Snap ! Dora The Explorer gets a Makeover

Is “girlyfying” Dora really necessary? Can a  little girl just be without frills and the social pressures of being what society sees a proper representation?  Will she stop exploring the world, ditch her compass, map and backpack ? We already have  Barbie and The Bratz as fashionistas. Some parents and associations are pissed at the deeper implications of the newly trendy Dora, and make some very interesting observations. Read the petition here.
