It’s not easy to make acid wash jeans look sexy but Miss Sixty made it happen. A definite throwback to the late ’80s, early ’90s, Fall 2009 at Miss Sixty was all about rock n roll cool.  Shoulder pads, mini skirts, and leather booty shorts slammed with zippers floated down the runway. The standout was the super tiny baby doll dress in a satin print loaded with ruffles, fishnets and white booties kept it from feeling overly girl and gave it the edge that Fall at Miss Sixty was all about.

Titled “Drei” Hartmann Nordenholz  presented an Autumn’09 collection featuring a repetion of geometric prints with can spray paint effect. The draping gives the line a little grecian feel , modernized with sporty items like tanks and leggings.  I like it a lot! A closer look on the next page.

Raphael young designed the amazingly futuristic shoes(above) featured in Manish Arora’s Autumn 09 show. The Seoul Born designer was inspired by the samurai for his Spring 09 collection where strengtht and  craftmanship provide  shoes that artfully mix tough , sexy and  design.

What can I really say about these that they don’t already say for themselves? Ruffled fringe like leather pieces studded and in dainty pink, brilliant red, and  mustard yellow?? What’s not to love? I’m particularly obsessed with the pink color, something about the delicate girlie girl pink with all those studs and the mixture of velvet has got me drooling. I spotted these on the Prada Fall 2009 runway which featured a number of accessories worth stalking.

Love how this Maison Martin Margiela bracelet combines the heavy link chain with flashy and feminine rhinestones. It’s available at ELuxury for $250. My one issue is the materials versus the price, which don’t match up as far as I’m concerned.

Nike and Liberty have teamed up to create four new sneakers for Spring/Summer 09. Two versions of the Blazer will each feature one fabric with a solid draping while the Nike Hi Dunk will use multiple fabrics creating a patchwork effect. Liberty is known for delicate color palettes and floral prints, this mixed with Nike’s clean aesthetic is sure to gain some attention.

Never heard of her before, but I’m amazed by designer Mary Katrantzou’s graphic work. Her Spring/Summer ‘09 collection, according to her website, is inspired by early ’70s references and the prints are described as “trompe l’oeil digital prints of oversized jewelry on bonded jersey dresses.” The collection includes real accessories as well. Again we see a reference to the blurring of fantasy and reality (see post on artist Jasper Goodall’s “Poster Girl” collection).

I have to thank the British fashion press for at least being the closest to representing fashion on a global scale and featuring our beloved Manish Arora. Fashion media just really peeves me sometimes. Please explain  why I cannot find any images of  a Manish Arora  runway on Style or French Vogue  if he shows during Paris fashion week?

Anyway, Manish Arora’s theme for Autumn ‘09 was a mix of the Indian and African jungles and the animals who inhabit them . He opened his show with an African dancer who gave way to models sporting  Raphael Young  gold shoes. The apparel, which showcased Aroras’ great  skill of using prints, colors and of course beading, was if anything visually inspiring and stimulating. The show closed with Angela Lindvall wearing a dress with moving petals!
