doras makeover Oh Snap ! Dora The Explorer gets a Makeover

Is “girlyfying” Dora really necessary? Can a  little girl just be without frills and the social pressures of being what society sees a proper representation?  Will she stop exploring the world, ditch her compass, map and backpack ? We already have  Barbie and The Bratz as fashionistas. Some parents and associations are pissed at the deeper implications of the newly trendy Dora, and make some very interesting observations. Read the petition here.

horrible, looks like a Bratz doll minus the birth defects.

  2. Tiffany:

trust me when i say, no tween is checking for this! at least none i know.

  3. Oh no, I do not like this at all. Dora was fine as was!

get a grip people…for God’s sake is a cartoon!!!!! she cant be small forever! this is the only cartoon that gets real…kids have to learn that they grow up…they dont stay frozen. theres nothing crazy about the new Dora, shes pretty and very covered. people always find stuff to complain about. if you dont like it, change the channel. im sure the show will go on without you haters

I think new dora is cool. She\’s better looking and no longer has a football shaped head, which really freaked me out. Usually I watch dora to see how dumb the show is, but now I\’m excited and going to see the first new show of dora when she\’s a tween. You got this from an 11 year old.

Oh please! A petition for making a cartoon character grow up!!?! Now that\’s truely insane. I was just surprised that they changed her, that\’s all, I\’m not mad at it. But I must say that I will miss the old Dora, but I\’m sure it\’ll come on from time to time. But people just need to calm down, you think this is the end of the world just because of a television cartoon?? It\’s a damn recession! There\’s other things to worry about like swine flu and whatnot. So if you\’re gonna allow a cartoon character affect the world, then grow up! **kisses teeth**, a damn petition…

  7. I’m not a huge fan of the look. (I like how the overall character design is more polished and defined, certainly.) At the same time, I find no huge qualms with it. Kids who grew up on Dora probably will get a kick seeing the girl they grew up with a bit older and dealing with new kinds of adventures. (As someone who grew up on “Rugrats”, I loved the spin-off “All Grown Up”.) Personally, I think it would have been better to have her looking not quite so girly, she never seemed that type to me, but as the creators and artists they have the right to make her what they want.

Petition or no, she will sell. This is Nickelodeon we’re talking about.

wow! are people seriously that angry about dora changing her style and looking a little cuter? i think that is crazy and for the record i think the new dora is awesome!

  9. Olivia:

If this is what Dora looks like now, I wonder what Diego now looks like..
