A perfect example of delusions of grandeur or notoriety that can sometimes overtake  the media and their coverage of  celebrities.  As reported by NYMag  Vivienne Westwood had no clue who Kanye west was, when he greeted her after her runway show.  And to be honest that is perfectly okay. We live in really big world. To assume that the knowledge of a certain celebrity is global is just absurd…

Sometimes when you visit a brand at a tradeshow, your opportunities to photograph stuff that hasn’t already been  featured on every streetwear blog in all the land are nonexistent. For example, at Magic, a lot of designers were showing Fall 2009, but many of them wouldn’t allow images to be taken. Natch, small brands live and die by their creative ideas and have to balance the desire for exposure against the desire not to be knocked off non-stop by you-know-which retailers and brands. That was the case with 80%20, Modern Lovers (though I’m fake-mad at Modern Lovers designer Ellen Nguyen ’cause I saw she let MissCrew photograph her bodysuits. What?) and Gourment. Whadyagonnado?  What you do is photograph the designers, who are fun to look at themselves and as an added bonus, are willing to give you a sneak peak either because they’re wearing the product or standing in front of it!

Everything in the Rogues Gallery line has me daydreaming about frolicking in the woods of Maine to get weird and take murky underwater photos in a lake. Particularly these nautical necklaces.

After seeing several teasers of the collection, the release of the Stussy x Hellz Bellz “Ladies First!!” capsule line is just around the corner. Stussy is well known for their collaborative projects, but usually there was not much for the ladies in the mix – that was until now!

“This ladies-only collaboration features a capsule collection of tees, tops and accessories. Available at Stussy Chapter stores and other premium streetwear retailers on March 7th.”

WESC is no doubt these days feeling itself. Not sure how it pulled it off or how long it will last, but it’s managed to position itself as having the feeling of the streets while still throwing off posh vibes. Not a bad lane to be occupying at all. The women’s line is relatively new–just a couple years old, but I’m liking what I’m seeing (and I think it’s Autumn 2009 but I’m not positive). This front-tie shirt stood out for the houndstooth pattern of course. WESC was showing plaid wovens just like everyone else, but they added flavor to the line by going a little bit out on a limb with this pattern.

On the other side is a woven top, dress and a couple of cute bags. I also threw up an image of the limited edition (as in five pairs only) men’s denim jeans, which feature real gold threading.

When I was visiting with the M.O.B. crew, McSweeney recommended I hit up the Bambu booth if for no other reason than the amazing Sarah Saiger, who is both an heiress and one of the company’s biggest cheeses (Gramma Saiger still has seniority).  From the time I got to Sarah’s booth until I left, she had me cracked up laughing, starting by telling me how she had just got off the phone with her Mom to let her know she just nabbed a department store order by bribing the buyer with a hand job! Yes, she is one of those  raucous types of females. And on top of that, her line was very on point. I mean seriously, women, you want heritage? The Bambu brand has only existed in 1764! And if you look inside your pack of rolling papers, it’s always sold tees. Ms. Saiger is just taking things up a notch.

Yes, people, this is a gratuitous shot of KimK for no other reason than we’re fond of her around these parts. Well, wait. Given that we like her in general, the thing that’s kind of cool about this shot is that she’s wearing little-to-no-makeup, which is rare for her. Either way as you can see she’s still smoking hot. And can you imagine being a guy in a gym trying to workout next to her with that top she’s wearing?? Reggie better have kept his game face on the whole time he was in that gym, otherwise Mami be creating all sorts of havoc!
