Not sure what the reason for this Vanity Fair magazine gathering was, but judging from how everyone was dressed, it was a pretty highfalutin affair. I couldn’t help but notice that the party included two women who have been featured in our “Guess the Celebrity Rack” stories–that being Keyshia Cole and Kim Kardashian. Kim looks great here. She may make her share of mistakes, but one thing she knows how to do well is play up her ASSets and sultry Armenian good looks. Fergie on the other hand, I’m not so sure about. This dress I’m not feeling. It’s got a sort of Century 21 Edge to it that’s bugging me. I love the Fergster as a preformer and an entertainer but I’m never sure what style lane she’s shooting for. She confuses me and not in a good way!
On the flip is Fergie and Kehshia, whose dress also bugged me. From the front it was insanely busy and worse yet, you could only see her lovely boobies from the side!

Yesterday we attended the preview for Doori Chung’s Under.Ligne, line, Doo.Ri’s secondary lower priced line, launching in June 2009.
Under.Ligne is a tight collection of what I can call modern basics, in a mostly black and white palette, with beautiful ruffle details, exposed metal zippers, sheer panels on leggings and of course the rhinestone encrusted stockings!
Lois highlighted the glimpses of individual style we noticed and the fierce shoe game.
On the next page a closer look at Under.Ligne, a few fashionistas, Doori Chung herself and photographer Dorothy Hong.

Your woman sports the hottest new looks and no doubt has her fair share of designer this and designer that. Perhaps not head-to-toe, but whatever she puts on, she never looks cheap. Then she heads home at the end of a long day and as thoughts of good lovin’ come to mind, she reaches into her nightstand and pulls out a plastic pink vibrator! What?? Something is wrong with this picture and you have the power to fix it. For this Valentine’s Day, you can purchase her this extremely limited, 24K Little Gold vibrator at JimmyJane. It’s waterproof and it comes with heart etching enscripted with the words “Be mine.”

T.K. Maxx partnered with Stella McCartney to create am exclusive line of Red Nose tees, featuring The Beatles, Morecambe & Wise and my fave, Madonna. Part of the money T.K. Maxx makes will go to an organization called Comic Relief, which helps people who need help. (Apparently this is all connected to some U.K.-based event called Red Nose Day, which takes place on March 13 and again is all about raising money to help people.)

One of Samia’s fave shoe designer’s, Brian Atwood, has a new pair of sky-high offerings at Colette called Court, designed for making modern day, fairy princess shoe dreams come true. Imagine how slick these would be with a pair of leatherette leggings.

Variety and diversity, especially in fashion, are concepts that always need to be reinforced. The fashion world can sometimes be boringly homogeneous with all the women and the men being the same size and wearing whatever the look of the moment is. The concept of a hunky 6′4″ football player interning at Elle magazine might be shocking to some, but we welcome it. Eye candy and the outlook of an outsider can be quite refreshing! Meet Stew Bradley the newest intern at Elle magazine. Read his interview via Inside DVF

Samia is going to post up images of Japanese [update: the designer, Doori Chung, is Korean] designer Doo.Ri’s new, lower-priced collection, Under.Ligne, but in the meantime, I’m going to give you some shots of the extremely fashionable crowd that attended the launch. Above are p.r. champs MariJ of MariJBrooklyn and Michelle Wan, who reps for G-Star (the bag is Jacobs, people). A close-up of MariJ’s amazing earrings is on the other side, plus some hot Pradas and cleavage-bearing Lou-Bs.

JC Report has an excellent article today on the fashion choices being made by Rihanna and Beyonce. Clearly RihRih has given the intensely-competetive Beyonce a good kick in the ass. Here’s an excerpt:
Even with this ongoing creative collaboration, some industry insiders point to [Beyonce's] rivalry with fellow chart-topper Rihanna and other emerging singers. “We have to wonder if perhaps [Beyoncé] chose the dress to combat a certain popular singer who’s mentored by Jay-Z and who easily pulls off lesser-known designers,” notes New York magazine’s The Cut. And indeed many are whispering that Beyoncé’s newfound edge has to do with the need to keep up with other daring starlets’ growing fashion cred and directional picks.
We know Beyonce is smart enough to hire the best stylists in all the land who can do a very capable job of updating her look, but will it be a believable transformation?

“If you cut out the excess and extravagance, what you’ll have is a return to personal creativity, a rich creativity that has nothing to do with how much money you have.”-N.V.
Nicola Vassell, a Jamaican-born, former model who is currently a director at Deitch Gallery in New York, was the focus of a New York Times feature, ”A Shaper of Talent for a Changing World.
Like many of her contemporaries she represents a crop of young current individuals whose presence is well needed in the classical art world.I’m hoping that this change will among other things contribute to encouraging art buying/collecting among our peers .
