I found Nervous system a while ago and have been tracking their collections over the past year or so. They are really consistent with their designs and they just keep getting better. Nervous System’s knack for intricacy and delicacy on big statement pieces is what sets them apart. They cite nature as an inspiration drawing from coral, honey comb, and even the moon to create their pieces. The necklace and bracelet above remind me of a spider web and the ribbon detail on the stainless steel bracelet is just perfect

I cannot by any means consider myself a bag person. For the most part  I  get wrapped up in details, craftmanship  and, end up rocking the same one for years. When I saw Farrah Delaunay’s (above)  line “Bambou”  though, I wanted all her bags in all their glorious mix of  leather  and colorful  African fabrics. Being caribbean, living in Brooklyn it’s easy to see the use of ethnic fabrics in fashion as repetitive. However,  Farrah’s use of classic shapes and great details like  metal zippers, tassels, allows the bags to be  relevant to a fashion that is globally accessible,  and not stuck in a  ”type” or ethnicity. I just previewed the Autumn/Winter ‘09 collection from Serpico,at Expose NY . The label created by Melissa Serpico Kamhout. Based in Chicago , Serpico uses draping with a very architectural sensibility to create  a line that  is refined and intellectual .  The label’s aesthetic reminds me slightly  of our style conscious first lady, making “dressed-up”  look effortless, chic, sexy but never boring!

Tilda Swinton, one of the edgiest dressed actresses, graces the cover of the upscale  british publication Another Magazine . I recently got a  Spyder Fresh Air Shell Jacket, and was pleasantly surprised.  The cut is sleek,  the jacket is lightweight and very warm,  transitions easily from outdoorsy adventures to a city/urban setting.  Basically,  you don’t take up two seats on the  subway with your puffy  your jacket.  A closer look on the next page .

es, Yes, those are Beyonce’s nails you’re looking at!! I mean, what the damn eff Bee, when exactly was the last time you got your nails did?? They are so bad in fact that I can’t help but think it’s a media stunt (granted a minor one), especially since she’s wearing what is supposedly her almost-never-worn engagement ring on the other hand. This is Bee, after all, the high priestness of Black Southern Belles, who do not do busted pedicures. And if if this is her attempt to be edgy, it’s not working! Mainly ’cause the chipped-nail look only works if you’re a skinny, young girl who smokes Marlboros and only ever wears skinny jeans and hightop Chucks. Sorry, but otherwise, you just look jacked-up and lazy.

Known for her creative costume design on some of the most infamously fashion conscious movie and TV sets (”Sex and the City” anyone?), Patricia Field landed her self the gig as the head honcho of the fashion department for the movie “Shopaholic.” To celebrate the release of the film Patricia has offered us a “Shopaholic Style” section on her web shop. The look above is by far my favorite but I have a feeling you will all go gaga for the accessories, which range from vintage heart-shaped sunglasses to neon clutches. If you have the opportunity you should head to the House of Field shop in the Bowery district of New York. The staff is super friendly and I have yet to resist walking out without dropping some serious dough.
