Expose NY : Bambou by Farrah Delaunay
I cannot by any means consider myself a bag person. For the most part I get wrapped up in details, craftmanship and, end up rocking the same one for years. When I saw Farrah Delaunay’s (above) line “Bambou” though, I wanted all her bags in all their glorious mix of leather and colorful African fabrics. Being caribbean, living in Brooklyn it’s easy to see the use of ethnic fabrics in fashion as repetitive. However, Farrah’s use of classic shapes and great details like metal zippers, tassels, allows the bags to be relevant to a fashion that is globally accessible, and not stuck in a ”type” or ethnicity. Look on the next page for a closer look at “Bambou”.
