Marc Jacobs Hardcore Belt

Accessories

Selectism - Marc Jacobs Hardcore Belt

Marc Jacob's latest "special" could very well be a tribute to the classic Pulp record (which interestingly enough is celebrating its 10th birthday this 2008), but may be more commentary on his brand and lifestyle. The man is out there doing his thing and could not care less what you or I think about it. God bless for that. Available in red, white, black and brown.

NYFW John Bartlett for Spring 2009

Fashion

Selectism - NYFW John Bartlett for Spring 2009

Give it to men.style for getting up those Spring looks from Fashion Week in NYC this week (as well as a major upgrade in runway shots for screen I must add). Profiling the latest from John Bartlett, Tim Blanks describes the collection. "Bartlett's recent collections have felt like the stuffing's been knocked out of them, so it was uplifting to see what amounted to a return to the form he displayed more than a decade ago. In a tightly edited 20 looks, he offered one of his signature meditations on masculinity... Bartlett loves butch, which meant the short sleeves on his shirts... Torsos were defined by the seams of trim cabana shirts."

Nigel Cabourn Knitted Vests

Fashion

Selectism - Nigel Cabourn Knitted Vests

Nigel Cabourn takes inspiration from the "rarest expedition and military clothing" when designing his looks. These Knitted Vests hark back to an era when climbing Mt. Everest was a game that only a few men would even attempt. Made from Scottish lambswool, these vests are a re-run from their 2003 collection based on the clothing Sir Edmund Hilary and co were wearing on their Everest ascent in 1953. Available in grey and navy from Oi Polloi.

Selectism - Dr. Martens Monochrome Collection

Dr. Martens take a fresh look at two of their models with their "Made in Monochrome" series for Fall/Winter 2008/09. Feature two shoes from the 1460 series - an 8 eyelet boot and a 3 eyelet shoe - the "Made in Monochrome" series striped the silhouettes down to their bare essentials and provide very clean and wearable looks. The all white 1460 8 eyelet is just damn good. Avaiable in two weeks from oki-ni.

Tiger Seen on Shaftesbury Avenue: The National Gallery's Grand Tour

Books & Magazines

selectism - Tiger Seen on Shaftesbury Avenue: The National Gallery's Grand Tour

In the summer of 2007 London's National Gallery took some of it's greatest works on agrand tour. No, not through Europe and the Med. Through the streets of the big smoke. Reproductions, complete with frames and label text, adorned alley's and pub walls. The public was invited to interact with art in a new way and consider its meaning and power.

Tiger Seen on Shaftsbury Avenue: The National Gallery's Grand Tour documents the exhibition and viewers reaction. Author Andrew Graham-Dixon is an art historian, and has compiled the often witty responses of news papers and curators, along with photos of the works on site.

The book comes from Yale University Press. See the full cover of Tiger Seen on Shaftsbury Avenue after the jump.
