Fila X Premium Goods Event

Chicks with Kicks, Design, Fashion, Stores, Sneakers

The Fila X Premium Goods event went down last night at the Manhattan Fila store. Ever since Magic, I've developed a secret crush on Fila, and after last night, I'm no less in love. I just want Fila to do more of the same slick looks for women that it's already doing for men. Here's the Fila/Premium Goods collabo sneaker (sorry Ladies, only in men's sizes) being held by the ever-chilled Clarence, owner of BK-based Premium Goods.

^^When I chatted with Clarence, we heard that he has emminent plans (as in next week!) in the works to open an all-women's boutique called Wndrlnd, next door to Premium Goods!! I have to chat with him to get details on an exact opening date as well as the brands he's gonna stock, but in the meantime....wheeeeeeee!

Many more images after the flip, including me hugging up against the Fila track jacket I was swooning over at Magic.....

Collette X Gap: Opposites Attract??

Design, Fashion, Stores

There's a ton of excitement around the fashion blogosphere over the arrival of Collette in New York. According to the ColleteXGap web site, the beloved French boutique will create a "one-month installation (09-06 to 10-05) in Gap's rotating store," adjacent to its 54th & 5th Ave. flagship stores. No doubt there will be lots of fantastic merchandise, but from what I can see so far the Paris/New York collabo tees will be a highlight. Below is a screen grab of one featuring Paris stencil artist Miss Tic and N.Y. graff artists and designer Claw Money.

My only issue with this collabo is, why freaking Gap?? That chain sucks and has for a long-long time. Seriously, if you don't believe me, ask yourself when the last time was you shopped there for anything other than a pair of cotton panties? So the question arises, is Collete powerful enough to restore some modicum of hipness to Gap or will the ultra-slick French Mademoiselle get dragged down by the big plain chain's doofiness?? Because while it's true that opposites attract, the fact is that as a pair they're not always attractive!

YSL Manifesto Teaser Clip

Accessories, Common Sense, Design

"On September 6, YSL will distribute over half a million copies of its Manifesto to urbanites in Paris, New York, London, Milan, Tokyo, and Hong Kong. In the newspaper-style publication, Naomi Campbell is photographed in the Fall/Winter 2008-2009 collection by Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin. The first 5,000 shoppers will also receive a tote bag designed by Stefano Pilati. On the same day, a behind-the-scenes film of the shoot will debut exclusively on ysl.com"-FashionWeekDaily

To be Honest I am posting this out of sheer love and respect for Yves St.Laurent(R.I.P.) himself. I 'm not really impressed with the tote itself, I would think Stefano Pilati and his team ,who has shown that they lack no sense of creativity would have come up with something a little more original..

peep the tote on the next page If you have not seen it already it also comes in white...

Harajuko Girls: Still Think the Whole Concept is Completely Bizarro

Accessories, Design, Fashion, Designer Toys, Stores

The Harajuko Girls did an appearance at Bloomies recently to hawk the Harajuko Lovers line, which, judging form the image, is pretty bag-centric. The line is cute and all, but I never did like the idea of using these four (or three, not sure) women as a weird sort of backdrop to Gwen and I doubt I ever will. Not trying to hurt the girls' hustle or anything; it's just the idea I'm commenting on.

^^Not everything Gwen does is cool.
