I'll always have a soft spot for this brand 'cause of its Superstar 35th Anniversary design for Adidas. 'Member? It was the one with the picnic theme and the red checkerboard design? I still have my pair and it's one of my all-time fave pair of kicks.
A minute back I mentioned that Creative Rec had some adorable kid's shoes, which match up with the adults. While at Project, I was able to snap some of those cute combos:

With shows like Gossip Girl being all the rage , The prep school look of course makes it's way to the fashion world with Ralph Lauren as one of its major well suited ambassadors.
I have always had an intense admiration for the RL label's styling and merchandising.They should be called branding 101. I remember visiting their headquarters in NYC and seeing plaid walls,leather chairs dim lighting even the freebie M&M's were color coordinated, their store same thing, even the maintenance guy is hosing the store front sporting a branded Polo and rainboots. For fall the uniform schoolgirl look is an option,although for yours truly who had to rock a tie and pleated skirt for pretty much all her teens,I can only think of one option where I might revisit the school girl... ; )

Melissa has a long history of collaborating with well-known designers, who, no doubt, enjoy the chance to create shoes that by virtue of the plastic they are made with are lighthearted and fun. The Brazilian-based brand had more or less disappeared from the United States over the past few years, but it's now back and its designs are as eye-catching as ever.

There was no way a trip was going to be made to Las Vegas without checking in with 80%20 designer Ce Ce Chin, a longtime fave around these parts. We didn't get long to chat 'cause Ce Ce was BUSY, but she let us know that response to her line was so positive that she's thinking of expanding her booth next year. Nice!
Here are some of the more casual elements of Spring 2009, but let it be known that Ce Ce is also expanding the dressier part of her line and it looks fantastic!

I'm telling you, there are still waaaaay too few streetwear designers addressing the wants and needs list of female customers. The floor of S.LA.T.E. was very much man world. Obey is NOT part of the female-ignoration crowd. For a while now, it's offered designs for women, and not just in smaller tee-shirt sizes. The brand offers the full gamut and it has a female designer (Argh! I just discovered that I accidentally left all the cards I got in my hotel room so I can't tell you her name, which sucks!!) dedicated to the task. UPDATE: I just an email from the designer. Her name is Erin Wignall and she is great!

I couldn't photograph Spring 2009, but I can tell you that Obey did a VERY cool collabo with amazing street photographer Martha Cooper.
Kid Robot had one of Project's funnest/nicest booths and like its stores, just looking at it made you feel happy. Much to my utter delight, there were plenty of women's offerings AND they let me photograph away. The following are all from the Spring 2009 line:

Ever since the U.S.-based Fila got taken over by the Korea-based Fila a year or so back, it's been on an upward swing. Shoe design got an upgrade and it signed perfect-fit rap artist, Nasir Jones. The company is just now delving into women's kicks (cute, albeit a tad heavy on the Freestyle inspiration), but it was this purple track jacket that stole my heart. Maybe it was the over-airconditioned halls of Project, but there's just something so snuggly about it!
