CDG x H&M my 2 cents

Design, Fashion, Stores

I just got back from my midtown treck to H&M and I have to applaud the retail staff  for having fully recovered by lunch-time,you would have no idea it was a mob scene 3 hours ago.Aside from the launch the store on 51st was relatively quiet.

The line had alot of what I would call  "fillers " like  button down shirts , trench coats and crew neck sweaters (there's still a plethora available on 51street). That had no other detail than a CDG and H&M label.I really wanted to see some interesting stiching , lining or even an interesting choice of buttons .

The good thing tough Is that most of the pieces usually get returned and end up on the sale rack like the Viktor and Rolf Tuxedo pants I scored for 20 bucks! So if you missed out fret not ,just give it a couple of days...

Rick Owens Sweatshirt @ Oak

Accessories, Design, Stores

You already know our love and amiration for all things Rick Owens. This sweatshirt is a perfect illustration of features, I always believed the perfect sweatshirt should have: A generous hood that fully covers the head no matter the hairstyle, metal zippers, pockets right below the chest and slim extra long sleeves that reach at least to the knuckles.Might seem simple but to me those few things make this sweatshirt perfect. Back view on the next page.@ Oak but, sold out for now..

Target x Alexander McQueen

Fashion, Stores

Just when I think that Target has exhausted the designer diffusion line world one comes along that blows me away.Wwd just announced the collaboration of Alexander Mcqueen and target.I really am curious about the one!

"Target in March will launch a new fashion initiative called Designer Collaborations. The program will bring the styles of well-established designers to the mass merchant at typical Target prices. Alexander McQueen is the first on deck and will design a version of his McQ collection called McQ Alexander McQueen for Target. The collection will have rock 'n' roll influences and edgy details such as studs and tattoo-print fabrics. Designer Initiative is a separate program from Target's Go International, which focuses on young or emerging designers. Target said additional Designer Collaborations will be announced in the future. Each collection will be available in stores for a limited time."

CDG x H&M Now Online,Hmm....

Design, Fashion, Stores

The Comme des Garcons x H&M line was made available a couple of days ago and of course it leaves me wondering if I will be one of those on line that morning...The appeal of the pieces of course has to do more with the ingenuity of the very talented H&M stylists  in representing the Comme des Garcons aesthetic, than the pieces themselves.I really tought the polkadot ensemble above was more than a scarf and a cardigan (sad face..) Most of the pieces are fairly simple .The jackets and the bottoms are so far the most interesting pieces style-wise but I predict everyone will kill over the polka dot stuff and then I have to see what that  fabric feels like...

Freshly Minted M.O.B. Arrivals @ Cutlist!!

Fashion, Stores

More of the first M.O.B. cut-and-sewn collection is now hitting stores. Just now Cultist sent over some images of M.O.B.'s fresh fall collection, which includes leggings, cropped bomber jackets and tees. Don't nap, huns, because the stuff you like the most? Everyone else does, too, and before you know it, it'll be gone, baby, gone.

^^Nobody does it better, makes me feel sad for the rest...

See how this bomber looks on the inside on the other side. Hint: The lining isn't black.

HUNTER x RADCLIFFE Trenchcoat

Fashion, Stores

I'm very picky about trenchcoats, sometime by wanting to be "original " alot of brands overkill the whole design, The RADCLIFFE denim brand designed by Suzy Radcliffe and Hunter Collaboration is an example of what a classic/versatile trench should look like, close fitting so you don't dissapear, well tailored and with minor details so you can rock it all the time day or night...all you need is a belt change for night... only 1000 coats were made!

Cavern Leggings and Scarf @ Oak

Fashion, Stores, Accessories

There's a bunch of delish new items at Oak (though I'm torn by the studded mocassins<---what??), in particular the offerings from Cavern. Take a look at these neat-o leggings, which are grown-up without being soccer-mom-from-the-80s-ish, i.e. they're sexy as all get out.

There's a scarf by Cavern on the other side....

Because I Refuse to Look Like the Michelin Man!

Design, Stores

When it's insanely cold outside and the sleek wool coats don't cut it , alot of new yorkers revert to the" puffer coats", which I DESPISE,first of all on the subway three  people can't wear one and sit next to each other, they just take too much space...and then the subway smells like old pillows...

And then there is the style... I have always resisted that impulse and preferred to layer as much as I can . Thanks to my fellow Canadians at Mackage the Bunny Jacket is Here!!

No More Michelin Man Style!!!

Pour La Victoire: While I'm in the Mood to Show Off

Shoes, Stores

One of the worst things about this economy is not people losing their jobs, homes, etc, it's that retailers are so damn freaked out that they have basically stopped carrying anything even slightly adventerous fashion-wise. Everything's basic, basic, basic. In a recent visit to Brooklyn shoe boutique Soula, these purple patent pumps by Pour La Victoire stood out like a beacon of hope in a sea of boring brown and black shoes.

^^The thing that makes me especially happy is I noticed when I was searching for the brand's web site is that even though it's sold by many online retailers, no one I could see was offering this particular style. Ha!
