Purple Gucci Kicks: Nice!

Chicks with Kicks, Fashion, Stores

Since I established in my last post that I'm all up Gucci's nana, how about these purple sneakers, a web site exclusive, featuring yes, my newest obsession, the red and green stripe. Again, like the boots, pretty much perfect.

This is called the Barcelona. Make sure you lisp when you say that!

If I see you out wearing these, I'm gonna instantly hate you and love you.

Love, Lois

Kicks for yo' Babies

Chicks with Kicks, Sneakers, Stores

While visiting with CreativeRec, p.r. rep Carrie wanted to know if we cover kids, and our answer was an emphatic yes 'cause I know for a fact that some of our readers have babies and like to keep them laced up. My son is past the point where I can put him in a pair of awwww-look-how-cute-those-are sneakers, but Mommies who still have little boo-boos have more options than ever.

Creative Rec has a full line of sneakers for boys and for spring it launches a line for girls! I couldn't photograph them, but wait 'til you see!! So cute and they're exact take downs of the grown-up's styles so you and baby girl can totaly coordinate!

Crative Recration Holiday 2009: Rich!

Chicks with Kicks, Sneakers

In the world of women's kicks, there are two brands that are currently killing it. One of them is The Big Swooshy and the other is Creative Rec. A couple years back I was hearing from local BK sneakers stores that Creative's women's product was selling back to the wall and judging by the looks of what the brand is serving up for holiday their roll will continue:

^^Plenty of flair, but still classy

^^More head-turning slickness for your tootsies

On an altogether different note, while we were at the Creative Rec showroom, me, Samia and Creative Rec p.r. champ Carrie had a fun chat about how the major fashion mags basically shun the whole concept of chicks in kicks. And all I can say is that even as their circulation numbers drop through the floor, I hope they stay stupid 'cause it only means more readers for us!

One more low style on the other side.....

ALife: The Cutest Shoes!

Chicks with Kicks, Sneakers, Stores

Alife wouldn't let me photograph their shoes at Compass because they were all spring '09 (and expressed exasperation with images of spring '09 shoes being leaked on a certain streetwear blog when they shouldn't have been!), but one of their p.r. reps, Cassandra, was wearing a pair of creeper/sneaker hyprids that was too adorable for words. Take a look:

^^I want a pair!

80%20 CeCe Playing Hooky @ Compass

Chicks with Kicks, Shoes, Sneakers, Fashion

Now that this new show, Compass, is in the mix, there's gonna be a lot of brands that are going to have to decide where it's best to show. The big dudes can afford to show in both if they please (though note that Converse chose to bypass WSA altogether), but smaller, budget-constrained designers often don't have that kind of money 'cause trade shows aren't cheap!.

^^The lovely, talented, smart and funny Ce Ce Chin, designer/owner for 80%20, showed at the WSA, but not one to missed out on the action, we caught her playing hooky and visiting her pals at Compass.

Reebok @ Compass

Chicks with Kicks, Sneakers

A lot of the big dogs were at Compass, including Converse, New Balance, and Reebok. Converse (natch) wouldn't let me photograph, NB didn't appear to have anything for the ladies, but Reebok had plenty and mostly it was high and colorful. Here's a sampling:

LaCoste @ WSA

Chicks with Kicks, Fashion, Shoes, Sneakers

LaCoste was actually at WSA and Compass, but like a dummy, I didn't visit the booth at Compass, where, I'm told by Lacoste p.r. champ Emalie Adcock, there were was lots of cool Vault stuff that wasn't at the WSA. Oh well, the stuff at the WSA was still pretty great.

^^These bright-pink hightops were causing quite the ruckus in the booth. I had to wrestle them away from a sales rep and as soon as I was done shooting them he snatched them right back.

After the flip, see Amalie's faves, as well as another pair of hightops and some sporty flats.

Keep @ Compass

Chicks with Kicks, Shoes, Sneakers

Keep I believe was the only all-female brand at Compass, and it repped with its usual adorable/smart array of shoes. My faves were the gingham wedges. There's something cute and funny about them; a dressed-up pair of chanqletas for days when you want to impress the nighborhood.

^^Gingham Chanqs

Next up are The Foundation brand rep Cassandra Madsen's faves:

^^A classic and innocent profile with a heart of darkness. Love the dichotomy.

More Keep on the other side (including the cutest pair of kid's hightops you have ever seen!)

Creative Rec @ Compass

Chicks with Kicks, Sneakers

I made it out to Vegas! First thing I did was to visit the Compass show, a long overdue, hip, alternative to the WSA shoe show. It was mostly men's shoes, but there was some great stuff there for women, too. First up, Creative Rec, which has been killing it with its women's product:

^^As you can see, hightops are preparting to go higher AND glossier. These are just stunning.
