When I walked in to Opening Ceremony in Ny a while back, it was like one of those ...Finally!! moments.The design of the space was fairly simple and even cozy on so many levels and the apparel/accessories selection made me weak in the knees.The almost rigid modern edge that can often be present in high/modern fashion retailers was nowhere to be found, and that was so refreshing.Dean Mayo Davies of Ponystep interviewed Carol Lim and Umberto Leon the brains behind Opening Ceremony you can read the whole feature here.

Claudia Olmeda a fashion designer and Maribel Lopez, a former law student were searching in Spain for a kind of denim the would stand out. They searched from the high end to the Low end for denim that was not overly adorned but still stylish and different.Denim factoria was born:
"Denimfactoria's aim is to do really fun and interesting things with denim. We do love a classic five pocket but we noticed we were always on the hunt for unique pieces that"stood out" a bit in a sea of denim .That is how our first two jeans were born.The Alpha, featured earlier this week and the Bravo."
"We also care about the environment and we personally hate all the waste wrapping up the clothes we buy.Every time you purchase a pair of our jeans you will get a reusable woven bag with a “green” illustration printed on it so you can take your jeans home. We do this in hopes of reducing the use of plastic and paper bags plus it’s a free cool bag you can take everywhere."

The Project LENY was launched by Mariel Gamboa with its main goal to mobilise the fashion industry to take part in a project dedicated for a good cause. LENY is a gathering of Celebrities, Fashion Icons and designers that donate their design to support the project.
These designs are then interpreted and made into various fashion products with its label being a numbered Limited Edition series sold in the most prestigious multi-brand boutiques and Department Stores world-wide. The net proceeds of these special creations will be forwarded to the charity
