Lee Cooper X Giles Deacon + Lee Cooper Project 100 Auction Images!!
Denim, Fashion
A few months back ew featured the Lee Cooper project 100 below is a peak at what the festivities were like and above are a few pieces of the collab with Giles Deacon and Lee Cooper for his Spring 09 line!
"Predicted to be the 'feel good' event of the week, the Project 100 auction opened Paris fashion week on Monday 29 September at the prestigious Drouot Montaigne auction house. The auction of 40 exclusive collaborations raised funds for the Red Cross and Designers against AIDS charities.
The auction was part of Lee Cooper's centennial celebrations and a fitting tribute to a year worth of collaborations, sweat, tears, cajoling, hard-work and above all else, creativity and charity.
Busy from the offset, the crowd continued to grow and fuelled by copious amounts of flowing champagne served by Lou Doillon clad glamour girls, the auction began, slightly behind schedule (in true fashion week style) with a winning bid of 1000 euros for the Adriana Karembeu & Maison Massaro shoes. As expected, the Giles Deacon Tomi dress reached a more than honourable bid, 1800 euros. Some of the pieces sold for an impressive price were the Marshall Amplifier reaching 3000 euros and the JC de Castelbajac teddy bear sofa finally going under the hammer for a whopping 4500euros. The Land Rover fetched the highest price of the night. A 'mystery' bidder offered 27,000 euros without realizing her bid was final and as a result, she might be working a lot of overtime in the Lee Cooper marketing department.
Following the auction, the happy crowd made its way to les Bains Douches where the party really kicked off around midnight with fashionable party-goers queuing to have their photos taken and generally hanging about with many of the collaborators, Dino Dinco, Jeff Rutten, Bruno from WAD, Shuck One and Jean Charles de Castelbajac. The whole night drew to a close at 4am in the morning with everyone feeling slightly worse for wear and a little bit poorer - all in the name of a good cause."

Blueno+ch Denim s/s 09
Denim, Design, Fashion
Last week we were Invited to preview the Spring 09 Collection for Bluenotch denim. I takes alot to impress me in the field of denim as there are way too many brands out there...
Nevertheless, Bluenotch started by the husband and wife team, presented a collection inspired by Light & Luminosity.
As you will see on the next page the hues all resonate with a certain contrast of light and dark, emphasized by the lightness of the denim.Making them a perfect choice for when you want to wear denim without the weight.I really appreciated the consistency from the men's line to the women's line the colors scheme was the same , the details on the apparel and of course the incredible softness of the fabrics...

Junya Watanabe s/s 09 He Saw The Beauty !!!
Denim, Design, Fashion
I remember going to school in the morning and seeing the flower merchants walking down the hills of Bourdon with huge baskets of flowers on their heads. The sight of these women dressed in mis-matched clothes carrying on the heads gravity defiying amounts of flowers held a beauty and a strength in my eyes.
There is beauty in survival and strength and I loved that Junya Watanabe chose to Illustrate it in his Spring 09 show. Having partly grown up in a country who has become the poster child of poverty for the western hemisphere, I find that the beauty and strenght of the people, especially the women often gets overlooked ....

Dsquared's Dean&Dan Love A Sexy Woman
Common Sense, Denim, Design, FashionGrowing up I remember watching re-runs of Charlies Angels and always loving the the fact that these beautiful women could seriously kick butt with great style.Somewhere along the way shows like that must have shaped my view of women as powerful and sexy, the ones that stand out from the crowd...Those entrance making divas, that catch the attention of men and women alike. They were sophisticated, intelligent, well travelled and always confident.
From the opening of their Spring 09 Collection( yahoo news) I can tell that Dean & Dan Caten of Dsquared probably have the same image of women.Their line is not necessarily groundreaking, edgy or revolutionnary which in this case it's perfectly okay. They allowed their models to "Sass it Up" on the runway. Expressing a desire to convey looks and attitude, with cool, wearable pieces slightly hinting to the 70's.So many shows have the models look like robots, these pieces are the pieces any woman would want. you can actually see that woman talking ,heading a board meeting, stylishly running errands,in real life...

Atelier La Durance or The Art of Denim for Gals too!
Denim, Design, Fashion
There are a couple of apparel pieces that I will admit to being a highly discriminating Snob about.Denim is one of them. With all the denim brands popping out every season there are many things you should pay attention to.Style and fit matter but higher on the scale is quality. Some of you are spending waaay too much on the wrong brands...Test this out,how many denim labels last enough to make into the vintage pile,How many have you had for 5 to 10 years?
One of the brands that has earned my respect and admiration is Atelier Ladurance created by Gerard Backx. The Label produces denim with a 40's inspiration and amazing details like triple stitching ,vichy lining ,red for gals ,blue for boys in a little factory in Saint- Rémy de Provence

Denim, Design, FashionWhen I read that JT was showing at fashion week as William Rast,I have to admit that I did not expect much, but I was wrong...
Smartly he and his design team did not try to do couture but presented a line reflective of his heritage .A little country mixed with a little street and a pinch or Rock !
Well done!
