At the BET awards Last week Lil MaMa showed up wearing an outfit that really should just be defined as cute..of course she ended up on a worst dressed list..

Nonetheless I'm from the school that believes that entertainers are not necessarily supposed to look like the average Janeor joe on the street..Did not Michael Jackson,Madonna ,Cindy Lauper,Janet jackson,to name a few single themselves out because  they rocked outfits like no one else...

We all know that The Lake & Stars is a hot lingerie line, but did you know that the name comes from Victorian-era slang for a woman who knows how to put it on a man between the sheets? That just cracks me up, especially since I thought people barely even HAD sex during that era! And then how do you use it in a sentence? "Yo M'lady, thouest be the lake AND the stars!" LOL. Funny.

I didn't put them here because I have personal issues with any clothing that features ribbons. Too prissy for me, but to each her own.

Grigio Perla, La perla's line of Undies and swimwear  for men,Is again to me the willingness of labels to extend their brand in a direction that is not always  a garanty for success..I dunno how long ago it launched but...I wonder how their sales are doing ...As I said yesterday there is always this image of a brand that sticks in our minds... I love La Perla But the label will forever in my my mind be associated with women....

Naomi walked the runway recently for Dolce & Gabanna menswear show. Ms. Campbell is much like a gifted athlete who gets away with all sorts of crimes and misdemeanors because his talents are THAT other worldly. Seriously, if it weren't for her apperance at this show, would anyone even give two figs about it??

^^Fellow diva Beyonce Knowles didn't name a dance after Naomi out in "Get Me Bodied" for nothing.

To some out there we might look have we have ADD or something...we go from covering the latest in streetwear,kicks to High end conceptual fashion like Hartmann NordenHolz...But hey..you know what there are so many dimensions to women and people in general that we can't really limit ourselves...We like what we like..Wish retailers would get that!

Anyway ,Hartmann Nordenholz is designed by Filip Fiska and Agnes Schorer. I was really drawn to their detailling and aesthetic it seemed vaguely familiar and sure enough Agnes Studied under My Love of all time Mr.Helmut Lang himself.....

The clothes are sexy,modern and definitely on the edgy side...with hints of couture,

whereas,the great details  

This is not lazy fashion folks...Look at the detail on this top!

Coach is getting in on the high end sneaker game...I don't know if it's the fact that I have been bombarded visually by LV's or interlocking C's but their monogram seems to not do as well for me....The Keds-like Audrina with the stripes is not bad at all...

The Nannette like  the color and the contrasting textures would have loved their basic logo on it  with a contrasting color...

The Norra....uhhh I'll pass on the pink but the navy is not bad...

These must have slipped my attention ...of course they are part of the men's line..Nonetheless,Balenciaga under the influence of Nicholas Guesquiere is of of course one of the Ultimates in My book !

One thing is for sure I think that Designer Kicks is where the market will trend with the economy Doing what it's doing Stateside ,perceived values will be more important than ever,of course Jordan and Nike heads will go on but for the most part more end more I see  an  Unadorned high end  brand like Clae or Springcourt taking over the fashion side of the swoosh and the three stripes...At least for Guys,The women's kicks world is just really taking off...

I don't know about you ..but on trips to south Beach I often see women wearing these  "creations" whose origin I could never Identify, It's like how little can it be but still have something on...And then I always wondered how pricey those Little numbers were...Turns out they are Pretty Inexpensive..This little number the Anarchid Is sold out but would only set you back about 27 bucks...Ohh you don't wanna see what the back looks like...

For example Swedish men who I went gaga over  when I was I Stockholm are recognized as some of the most fashion forward men on the planet!

While Most out there are looking to what XYZ mag says is the new" it "Item for what season..Jeremias at 13  is rocking a Fedora that grown men  Stateside are scared to rock...

Long Gone are the days when Williamsburg and the east Village were populated by trendsetters..Where did the edge go???

Even Fashion Students,Waliking By F.I.T recently all I saw was an endless succession of low rise  shorts, sweats,trapeze dresses,leggings,very few  individuals with Flava...

Jamin Puech designed by the duo of Isabelle Peuch and Benoit Jamin is  a brand I fell in love with in the Nineties,they are far from the super minimal trends that can sometimes take over fashion. And that works really well for them.Their bags are adorned in a way that gives them a little vintage feel mixed with a sense of DiY, Altough I would shy way from a white handbag,the metal rings give it a Rock and Roll edge that the rocker in me finds tottally Rad!!

In 1968 when Tommie Smith won the gold Medal for the 200 meter- dash ,Tommie along with Teammate john Carlos raised a black gloved fist in the air.This Silent gesture(title of Tommie's Book) was like a symbol of the racial and political turmoil of the times,and became an iconic image of History.

Puma celebrates this gesture with the launch of this Clyde made of gold leather embossed with the 1968 gold medal and  his record breaking time of 19.83 seconds on the tongue...

Looks like these are in my future..

Michael Venker a recent Parsons Fashion Design Graduate is expected to launch in Japan Next Month, He collaborated with The KDU on this  Art/lookbook made of Hand stitched 70 year old linen paper with real 24kt Gold and Platinum details..definitely a keeper!!!..when Michael was asked about who his target customer was here's what he had to say:

"Someone who wants have a good time, and laughs a lot. My clothing isn't really form fitting, so it can appeal to a broad range of body types and ages, so it's more of an attitude thing. I think my customer works and plays hard, and has a blast doing both"-

 The parade is one of those things that is still after the 26th time   very grassroots and even controversial , made of individuals who love to dress up and make their own costumes...I have to say that it's more fun when you participate tough....

When lois rocked a pair of sandals from Irregular Choice  a couple of weeks ago I realize that I had not looked at this label for a while..

Visiting the store yesterday I was pleasantly surprised at the choices available,although their concept and presentation veers towards quirky and super creative(they partner with Heatherette sometimes) I find that they are more avant-garde and modern in their use of shape and color..

 the overall quirkiness can sometimes turn a more sleek consumer off...while the styles ,if they were by so and so designer would habe been on every mainstream fashionistas must have list...ahhh...The power of name...

I think they rock!

PixieMarket continues to bring the new and different. Recently they brought on Australian designer Natalie Encarnita's spring/summer '08 line. I like 'cause it's got a sly sexiness to it. Sort of like that person who you at first don't notice when they walk into a room, but whose allure slowly creeps up on you and eventually has you by the throat.

^^This dress by Natalie Encarnita is already sold out (but not for nothing, would it have killed them to use a model with slightly bigger boobs??)

I dunno about other places in the world but for many of us  in Ny Diesel was a brand for people who wore Von Dutch trucker hats ect.. remember those days... if you were one of those people back in the day  no offense..the thing just got so repetitive it was ridiculous....So for along time their collection was just too heavily branded for me,you could find a piece here and there but for the most part although they had some great design pieces in a whole it was just too much..

Recently I started looking at Diesel again and found that their accessories were pretty cool  apparently well made with features that I love like Metal Zippers!!and branded with "subtelty"!!!

I still think their website has too much going on but check out after the jump for a few of my pics..

If the hoopla behind the NYC opening of Topshop kind of leaves you indifferent  you let me break it down for ya...

If the Us store is a carbon copy of it's european counterparts it should rock, their assortment remind me of what a Sex and the city wardrobe closet would be like, very eclectic but never really tacky...with  a vintage section ,trendy pieces, wardrobe staples , high end collabos,accessories ,a cafe all in one place without feeling like you are in a mall!

They would carry things like this cute little Playsuit that you might not have  tought you ever needed but that ends up being  just irresistible...
