A lot of the big dogs were at Compass, including Converse, New Balance, and Reebok. Converse (natch) wouldn't let me photograph, NB didn't appear to have anything for the ladies, but Reebok had plenty and mostly it was high and colorful. Here's a sampling:

LaCoste was actually at WSA and Compass, but like a dummy, I didn't visit the booth at Compass, where, I'm told by Lacoste p.r. champ Emalie Adcock, there were was lots of cool Vault stuff that wasn't at the WSA. Oh well, the stuff at the WSA was still pretty great.
^^These bright-pink hightops were causing quite the ruckus in the booth. I had to wrestle them away from a sales rep and as soon as I was done shooting them he snatched them right back.

I have to be honest and say that lately the women's sneaker world has done nothing to spike my desire for as versatile and funky as the sneaker gal can be it seems to be hard for folks to catch..Nonetheless Nike always has something !

What I love more than anything about the dynamic duo of Lois and I, is that we probably contradict every single stereotype that american society would label us with and it's really Hilarious...Granted you would have to meet us to figure it out...and I really can't get into it right now...Anyway so I featured Elie Yaffa aka Booba a couple months back because supposedly he's the french 50 cent....

I have always been heavily into fashion Magazines...any careful observation one can see that when it comes to fashion everything has to do with trends even when it comes to models, at one time it was the mega uber females like the Evangelistas,Campbells, Turlingtons,ect...then the androgynous nymph-like waifs,to the brazilian explosion,to the fair scandics and eastern europeans ,as if all women cannot get equal representation...

to mainstream of Laskshmi Menon , pictured above in the Givenchy ad,from Bangalore India really makes me happy!
For years I have wanted to see indian women in the mainstream media, (granted Givenchy and Hermes are european comanies)not that it's necessary,I do not believe that a woman should have to see herself represented in the media to feel beautiful, but if we pride ourselves on being a country where equality is the norm than the recognition of beauty coming from different ethnicites or shades should also not be an event...
It should be a common everyday thing...

Butter by Nadia is one of those labels that never dissapoints expanding on the concept of "convertible apparel" a very "green" way to dress at least when it comes to consuming and discarding. If you thing about it..One piece that can be worn several ways can translate to having less apparel and discarding less...makes sense right..?

Keep I believe was the only all-female brand at Compass, and it repped with its usual adorable/smart array of shoes. My faves were the gingham wedges. There's something cute and funny about them; a dressed-up pair of chanqletas for days when you want to impress the nighborhood.

I've always had a love for India ..growing up in montreal I remember putting a red lipstick dot on my forehead and having a Big crush on a boy named Samir,it diddn't work out..(boo hoo..) but I still have love for the peeps..over the years I have discovered the accessories! seriously if you live in a place where there is a little India neighborhood,you will come out with some of the most beautiful jewels ever...
Kiran Uttam Ghosh a designer based in Kolkata , has been able to come up with a line for fall 08 that is colorful in a subtle palette and very versatile..I love the layers... the intricate details..simply fab!

When I heard the news of Justin Timberlake being the new face of Givenchy's new fragrance"Play" I was curious to see how they would feature him..I was expecting something alot sexier...To shed the boy band look you have to push the envelope just a tad....granted even if the scent had to do with music I can think of someone who is making a killing when it come to crooner-style R&B and whose a little more grown... and a former model who can do no wrong in my book...their pictures after the jump...

I made it out to Vegas! First thing I did was to visit the Compass show, a long overdue, hip, alternative to the WSA shoe show. It was mostly men's shoes, but there was some great stuff there for women, too. First up, Creative Rec, which has been killing it with its women's product:

Nicholas Kirkwood has done it agin this fall with acollection of shoes that continues to challenge the conventions of footwear with sexy details and texture contrasts that set him apart in the designer footwear world..this blue heels just does it...wow..

Fashion like Art, is a platform of expression seldomley exploited by designers, very rarely do they use their creative platforms to not just please buyers and say something about Social Issues ,present their line on average non-model folk or just have a wide spectrum of ethnicities on the runway..
Miguel Androver is one of those who won my appreciation when I attended his show in 2004 ,if my memory is the correct even the program was designed as a Travel boarding pass..the show (snapshot above)was a visual treat with poignant social undertones....According to WWD he's back !
and that makes me one happy camper!

When it comes to sneakers I understand that given your occupation or lifestyle you might not be able to leave the house rocking a pair Bright hi tops,There are alot of major corporations with very tight dresscodes.... 
Nevertheless when companies like Hogan exist there is nor reason why you should be wearing your Donna Karan Suit with your running sneakers!You just end up looking very random...or that you should run out the house with a fur coat and a pair of kicks on that are so old the brand is not visible..no excuses...get it together..if you're upscale enough to rock fur in this day and age then I'm sure you can gather the "moula" for decent kick around footwear....right?

Won Hundred,created by Nikolaj Nielson,designed by Pernille Schwarz,from Denmark was another stand out women's label we got to see at Capsule. This is a brand that did put a big grin on my face , the clothes are sleek modern with a slight edge that is not overpowering and allows the woman to freely express who she is.The inspiration is taken from the nineties with Madonna's Justify my love as a reference point.i.e it's not devoid of sexy...sharp tailoring great fabrics and details...
